After falling short of winning the NBA championship last season, the Dallas Mavericks have already started looking towards the future and plan to trade away Tim Hardaway Jr. Those who were unable to watch the 2024 NBA Finals should know that the Boston Celtics dominated the Mavs to win the series and the championship within just 5 games.
With the exception of Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving, for stretches of the series, the majority of the Dallas Mavericks roster greatly underperformed and were unable to give their main stars enough assistance and help for the majority of the series. Since the Mavs clearly need better players in order to remain competitive and potentially win an NBA championship, reports regarding moves they plan to make have been going viral.
Tim Hardaway Jr. did not score a single point for the majority of the 2024 NBA Finals
Anyone who watched the 2024 NBA Finals will know that the Dallas Mavericks’ bench did not live up to expectations and was contained greatly by the Boston Celtics. Tim Hardaway was no exception and did not score a single point in Games 1, 2 and 4.
While he did manage to score 15 points in Game 3, those were at points when the game already appeared to be out of hand and going in the direction of the Celtics. Therefore, one can understand why the Mavericks are looking to trade him in return for other assets.

Although moving on from Tim is certainly expected to be a move in the right direction for the Dallas Mavericks, fans must undoubtedly be wondering what they will be able to get in return for him.

Since the Mavs star signed a $75 million contract with his team back in 2021, there is no denying that getting back equal value for him will be a difficult task for Dallas. Some fans suggested that the Mavericks trade him to a team unable to make the playoffs such as the Detroit Pistons. In a team like that, Hardaway could still have good value and help them do better. In any case, only time will tell what the Mavs will be able to get for him.
