A basketball card representing Luka Doncic during his rookie year with the Dallas Mavericks has been sold at a public auction for a whopping $3.12 million. This has made us question whether the Doncic Logoman card has a claim to be the most expensive basketball card ever.

As we all know, Luka is proving to be a sensational and incredible basketball player. The Mavs superstar has single-handedly revolutionized the Dallas Mavericks and is considered by many to be one of the faces of the league in the near future. Perhaps that has played a role in his rookie card being sold for such a high price. Let us take a closer look at the details and find out if any other players’ card has generated more money.

Luka Doncic’s Logoman rookie card is the 4th most expensive basketball card ever

It turns out that Doncic’s card is not the most expensive basketball card ever sold at a private or public auction. That honor still resides with Stephen Curry and LeBron James, who are still playing at a high level at the backend of their illustrious NBA careers. LeBron’s rookie card was sold for an impressive $5.2 million back. Moreover, Curry’s was sold for $5.9 million, making it the most expensive card ever Although these cards were initially bought for a lower price, it has increased dramatically each time it has changed hands.

To those who do not know, these are no ordinary cards. Luka’s Logoman card and the other NBA greats’ basketball cards all have unique traits that increase their value tremendously. In most cases, it includes a patch of the jersey with the NBA logo worn by the player during their rookie year. Additionally, it is also personally signed and embroidered with a picture of the NBA star in question.

As we all know, Luka Doncic started playing very well during his first year in the league and certainly has the potential to be the next LeBron James. Perhaps that is why his rookie card is one of the most expensive ever. It would interest fans to know that another card of Donic’s was sold for $4.6 million. Therefore, he technically occupies both the 3rd and 4th spots for the most expensive basketball card ever.

🚨 BREAKING NEWS 🚨

The collector who sold the Luka Doncic Logoman RPA for $4.6M is the same person who bought it back for $3.12M.

Sold 2/27/21: $4,600,000
Bought 11/17/22: $3,120,000

That’s a $1,480,000 profit just for letting someone else *hold* the card for a couple years! pic.twitter.com/5kZUOVAI3v

It would shock a few fans to know that all these cards were even more expensive than Michael Jordan’s basketball card which was sold at $2.7 million. Although Jordan is considered by many to be the GOAT, his basketball card only ranks 5th on the list of most expensive basketball cards ever.
