This has not been one of the better seasons in the career of Kyrie Irving. As fans will be aware, Irving was traded from the Brooklyn Nets to the Dallas Mavericks following the alleged promotion of an antisemitic documentary. That caused a fair share of problems as his franchise and the league decided to take his actions very seriously.
It turns out that they were not the only ones. Some of us already know that Irving was under a contract with Nike and had a signature shoe line with them. Considering that Nike is a huge brand that was likely paying Kyrie a lot of money, having them terminate their contract most certainly would have impacted his net worth. That said, let us take a closer look at Irving’s net worth after Nike cut him for his questionable actions.
Kyrie Irving has a net worth of $90 million despite leaving Nike
As of 2023, Irving is estimated to be worth around $90 million. While this number is very impressive when compared to the average citizen in the United States, it pales when compared to someone like Stephen Curry with $160 million, or LeBron with over $1.2 billion.
According to the reports, Irving was making around $11 million per year according to his contract with Nike. There is no denying that it played a significant role in increasing his net worth, along with his other endorsements and off-the-court activities. However, it could be argued that losing Nike didn’t impact Irving financially to a great extent.
While it certainly reduced the amount of money he could make over the years, it would not be able to take away from the money he had already made so far promoting their shoes. Moreover, Kyrie was only in the final year of his deal with Nike. Therefore, he lost only around 11 million, or rather simply was not given his final paycheck with Nike, assuming he wasn’t planning on renewing his contract with them.
Although he was still losing out on the money he could have earned by avoiding his controversial actions, Irving felt relieved after finding out that his deal with Nike was over. Perhaps money simply doesn’t matter that much to Kyrie, whose philanthropic acts and deeds over the years have cost him significantly. That also explains why his net worth isn’t very high when compared to other stars in the league.
