A lot has been said and written about the Memphis Grizzlies star, Ja Morant, in the past couple of weeks. It is only fair to talk about Morant’s mental health and well-being after all that he is going through. Morant has been tied to 4 separate incidents, with two coming this month, which have derailed his goal. Morant’s corner must step up and be with the NBA star during this crucial time.
The 2x All-Star spoke with Taylor Rooks in 2021, about mental health and how therapy has worked wonders for so many. Morant has been in touch with Rooks during all these controversies that surround him and texted a clip from 2021.
Morant is seen as a happy personality in the league, however, in the interview, he talked about his favorite quote. “You don’t realize you’re drowning when you’re trying to be everyone else’s anchor,” said Morant. This line holds when we consider the mall incident when he looked out for his mother, where he could’ve dealt with it differently.

After the incident, Morant issued a public apology and took responsibility for his actions. “I take full responsibility for my actions last night,” said Morant. “I’m sorry to my family, teammates, coaches, fans, partners, the city of Memphis. and the entire Grizzlies organization for letting you down,” continued Morant. As reported by Tim McMahon, Morant will be entering a counseling program after having mental health issues for a while.

“I’m going to take some time away to get help and work on learning better methods of dealing with stress and my overall well-being,” Morant mentioned in the statement as well.
When will Ja Morant return?
The Memphis Grizzlies suspended Ja for 2 games, however, it is much longer than initially stated. “There’s not a definitive timeline… we’re taking it one day at a time. This is going to be an ongoing healing process,” mentioned Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins. The suspension comes after Morant flashed a gun on social media after the game against the Denver Nuggets.
Morant may be facing serious consequences, but for now, he is getting all the help he can get. The incident couldn’t come at a worse time. The NBA and the police conducted an investigation, and concluded that no charges will be filed against Ja. Nonetheless, it is only right that Morant spends as much time as he needs to deal with all the controversies surrounding him.
