However, after returning to action, Cena defeated Carlito to win the United States Championship.

Fast forward to 2023, which is 19 years after their brutal encounter. Both John Cena and Carlito were a part of the Fastlane 2023 PPV event. Meanwhile, the duo were spotted together backstage. Thus, it can be understood that the two fan-favorite Superstars have now settled their differences. It now remains to be seen if they will be seen inside the ring together once again in the upcoming days.

John Cena and Carlito might have been spotted together backstage; however, they were not seen inside the ring together on WWE television at Fastlane 2023. They were part of distinct segments.
Carlito was not previously announced for the event. He appeared at Fastlane as the mystery partner for Rey Mysterio and Santos Escobar in their match. At the PPV event, Rey and Santos, along with a mystery partner were set to face the team of Bobby Lashley, Angelo Dawkins, and Montez Ford.

With that, Carlito came out and immediately took out Ford and Dawkins. Thereafter, Carlito nailed the backstabber on Montez Ford for the win. Thus, Carlito and LWO defeated Bobby Lashley and The Street Profits.
John Cena along with LA Knight faced the team of Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa and defeated them in a highly anticipated tag team match. Thus, the WWE Universe witnessed their favorite Superstars bagging a huge win.

Thus, both Cena and Carlito emerged victorious at the latest pay-per-view event. It now remains to be seen what plans the Stamford-based promotion has for the two huge Superstars going forward.
