While some players get long-term contracts with the teams, others remain in the league as free agents. Many great players eventually turn into free agents, and quarterback Colin Kaepernick is one of them. The star player spent 6 years in the NFL with the San Francisco 49ers. After that, he turned into a free agent and is still in the league like that. But, reports suggest that Dwayne Johnson has the doors of the XFL open for him.
The 6-foot-4 QB was phenomenal throughout his time with the 49ers. However, he hasn’t had the opportunity to play for any other team after that. Colin Kaepernick played his last game in December 2016 against the Los Angeles Rams. The 49ers won that game by 22-21 but it was only one of the 2 games they won that season.

Now, reports suggest that the Rock is interested in having the 35-year-old QB in his XFL. The star wrestler and the owner of the XFL revealed this through a comment on his Instagram account. As per reports, the 51-year-old actor mentioned in a now-deleted comment that he has a meeting with the NFL star. However, the meeting didn’t go well and hence Kaepernick might not join the XFL.
“We met with Kap and his agents… Good meeting, looked to create opportunity for him, but I don’t think it will happen. We’ll see,” Johnson wrote.
It’s worth noting that the Hollywood star bought the XFL in August 2020 along with Dany Garcia and Redbird Capital. There are 8 teams in the league that comprise a total of 48 games. Though Colin Kaepernick declined the offer, it can be a good way for him to make his NFL return.
Colin Kaepernick was interested in joining the New York Jets this Season
Colin Kaepernick, who has been suffering to sign an NFL contract, reportedly wanted to join the New York Jets. In early September this year, reports suggested that the 230 lb athlete sent a letter to the team. He mentioned in the letter that he was interested in joining the Jets after Aaron Rodgers’ injury.
The Jets veteran QB tore his Achilles tendon during the team’s season opener this year. Reports suggest that the 39-year-old star will probably miss the whole season. In his absence, QB Zach Wilson has been starting for the Jets. However, though Rodgers’ absence created an opportunity for Colin Kaepernick, the team refused his offer.
The Winsconsin-born QB had played well for the 49ers. The team selected him as their 36th pick in the 2nd round and Colin Kaepernick didn’t disappoint. Throughout his 6-year career, he got 72 TDs and 30 interceptions for 12,271 passing yards. He succeeded in 1,011 out of his 1,692 passing attempts. The NFL star also had 13 rushing TDs for 2,300 yards.
Colin Kaepernick has already shown that he holds the potential to lead his team to success. However, the star player is waiting for a team to show faith in him. It’ll be interesting to see when Kaepernick will get to sign an NFL contract again.
