Indian MMA fighter Anshul Jubli is all set to make a statement for his UFC debut this weekend. The Uttarkashi-born fighter is scheduled to fight Mike Breeden in the prelims of UFC 294 at Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi. While Anshul’s debut will certainly increase the rapidly growing MMA fanbase in India, the 28-year-old is also set to receive a hike in his fight purse.
With Jubli fighting in the lightweight division, it is mandatory that he meet the division weight limit. While the Indian fighter managed to clock in at 155.5 lbs, his opponent missed the mark by a huge margin. Mike Breeden weighed 159.5 lbs on the day of the weigh-ins, missing the limit of 156 lbs by 3.5 lbs.

Due to the careless behavior of Breeden, he will have to forfeit a portion of his pay to his opponent. While the accurate amount is not confirmed, Jubli will be receiving 30 percent of Mike’s purse. Additionally, if both fighters were to receive fight of the night bonuses, then Breeden would have to forfeit 100 percent of them as well.
While the fight seems advantageous for the King of Lions, chances are that it might be scrapped. Breeden is still awaiting medical clearance for the fight, leaving Indian fans with a huge sense of uncertainty. Regardless, Jubli has accepted the fight despite the issue and looks forward to his debut.
How much will Anshul Jubli earn from his fight at UFC 294?
Uttarkashi-born fighter Anshul Jubli is the lone representative of India in the most renowned MMA organization in the world. King of Lions is set to make his appearance at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi against Mike Breeden this weekend.
He is the second Indian athlete to sign with the UFC and boasts an undefeated record of 7-0. Jubli secured his contract by emerging victorious in the Road to UFC series, becoming the first Indian fighter to win in the UFC. For his upcoming bout against Breeden, Jubli will receive a base pay of $24,000 and an additional $5,000 from sponsorships.
If the 28-year-old manages to win his fight against Mike, he will be rewarded with double his base pay. Additionally, due to his opponent missing weight for their fight, he will also earn some extra thousand dollars from Mike’s paycheck.
The Indian fighter also stands a chance to win an additional $50,000 to $100,000 in fight bonuses from the UFC. Do you think Anshul Jubli managed to make a successful debut in the UFC? Let us know your opinions in the comments below.
