SUMMARY
- Snoop Dogg excludes LeBron James from his all-time top 5 Lakers list.
- Snoop Dogg praises Morant's skills and impact on the court.
Not only NBA fans, but loyal Los Angeles Lakers fans are also allowed to have their personal favorites among the Lakers. When talking about Lakers’ loyalties, one can’t leave Snoop Dogg out of the discussion. Snoop Dogg did an exclusive with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson on a recent episode of “All the Smoke.” Calvin Cordozar Broadus, aka Snoop Dog, let out a lot of information, be it about his life or his new movie.
The American rapper from Long Beach, California, is very peculiar about his choices concerning who is the best player on the California team. Very rarely does it happen that the owner of ‘Death Row Records’ praises anyone apart from the Lakers. However, there have been times when he gave out a few more names when asked about his favorite players on the team. What’s astonishing is that he didn’t place LeBron James on the list both times.
LeBron James is excluded from his all-time Lakers’ top 5 list
In May 2023, Snoop Dogg made an appearance on “The Pivot” podcast. It was on this show that he was asked to answer a rather difficult question. As always, Dogg was up for the challenge and ended up snubbing LeBron James. When asked about his ‘Top 5 Lakers of All Time,’ Snoop didn’t alter his choices and let out his views in the open.

According to Snoop Dogg, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, and Wilt Chamberlain were the best five players on the roster. This list did earn a reaction from James. James put up a story and captioned it, “Let’s see what happens when I no longer exist.”
There’s no doubt that James is reigning in the league, even though he is 39 years old. However, the Lakers have been crippled for far too long now. Not only did the team lose the Western Conference Finals to the Denver Nuggets, they even missed multiple playoffs in the last season. However, placing Ja Morant over James? Does this make any sense? Well, for the legendary rapper, it sure does, as he chose to place Morant at No. 2.
Ja Morant qualifies as a top 2 on Snoop Dogg’s list
Answering Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson, Snoop Dogg decided to give ‘King James’ an honorable mention. When asked about his Top 5 in the entire league, Snoop was quick to name Nikola Jokić and Ja Morant. He said, “That Motherf***** from the Nuggets, (Nikola) Jokic. That n***a right there, him off the tippy. When Ja Morant is on the court, I can’t even front, that N***a is different…He is a goon with the spoon.”

There is no doubt that the Memphis Grizzlies would have also felt the same once Morant returned from his 25-game suspension. However, the joy couldn’t last long, as the 24-year-old sustained a season-ending injury after playing a few games in the 2023–24 season. According to the 52-year-old rapper, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Giannis Antetokounmpo come next.
Joel Embiid occupies the last place, leaving no space for LeBron James on the list once again. This time, however, Snoop Dogg said, “Bron, you’re coming off the bench.” He also acknowledged how LeBron is still making decent plays even though he is 39 now. However, does this special mention sound okay for a player who is still averaging 24.8 points and 7.1 rebounds? What are your thoughts on these statements? Let us know in the comment section.
