It’s been a number of days since the WWE universe got the shocking news of the untimely death of Bray Wyatt. It was one of the most heartbreaking incidents in recent memory and left everyone in the pro wrestling industry really devastated.
After Bray’s death, the Stamford-based promotion paid an emotional tribute to Wyatt on SmackDown’s August 25 episode, but as it’s said, life goes on, the same seems to be true in Triple H’s company. Just days after the death of Bray Wyatt, the WWE made a big announcement for the fans, and the audience members haven’t been able to keep their calm after listening to it.
As announced on WWE’s official X handle, legendary performer John Cena is set to appear for seven consecutive weeks following his scheduled return to television on the September 1 episode of SmackDown. After this week’s show, the 16-time World Champion will be seen making appearances on Friday’s episodes across September and October.

The WWE legend hasn’t been a regular feature on TV for the last few years, and that’s why fans have been left elated by the recent announcement of the Triple H-led promotion. Fans were already excited to witness John’s return on SmackDown’s September 1 episode, and the news of seven appearances in the next two months is just like icing on the cake.
Cena’s return to the Stamford-based promotion on this week’s SmackDown will be his first appearance since he surprisingly appeared at the Money in the Bank event on July 1, 2023. Looking at the history John shared with The Eater of Worlds, he’s expected to pay an emotional tribute to the late performer on the upcoming SmackDown show.
John Cena to make his in-ring return at WWE Superstar Spectacle
While nothing is confirmed about what the 16-time World Champion will be up to after his return, Cena’s return to in-ring action has already been announced by the Stamford-based promotion. The Cenation Leader will be seen in in-ring action at WWE Superstar Spectacle in India on September 8, 2023.
This exciting news was first announced by John himself, and later Triple H’s company also confirmed the same by officially announcing his match for the show. It has been disclosed that Cena’s first-ever match in front of an Indian audience will be a tag team encounter.
The 16-time World Champion will be teaming up with the World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins, to take on Imperium’s Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci. Looking at the babyface team’s craze among the local audience, it’s obvious that they’ll get a lot of support.
Even though Cena’s going to be involved in in-ring action at WWE’s event on September 8, it remains to be seen what he’ll be up to during his seven consecutive SmackDown appearances. It’ll be interesting to see if we’ll get to see Cena in a full-fledged feud or if he’ll set his eyes on winning championship gold during his upcoming run.
