Brock Lesnar defeated Cody Rhodes at the Night of Champions after The American Nightmare passed out while being locked in the Kimura lock. The ending of the match displayed that Rhodes is a strong-hearted babyface.
However, the majority of the fans were not satisfied with the way things ended in Saudi Arabia. As a result, the loss has also hampered the image of Rhodes as the top babyface of the company.

At WWE Backlash, The American Nightmare pinned The Beast Incarnate in his attempt of concluding things with a Kimura lock. Fans thought that Lesner will focus on someone else. However, The Conqueror chose to destroy his recent rival.
After a series of attacks by Lesnar on the former WWE Intercontinental Champion, the second part of the brawl between Brock Lesnar and Cody Rhodes was made official.
Brock Lesnar took down Cody Rhodes at the Night of Champions
After a crowd-popping entrance, Cody Rhodes entered the arena with a titanium cast on his left hand. As the match got underway, Lesnar quickly sent The American Nightmare into the Suplex City. Rhodes was using his titanium cast as a weapon, however, The Conqueror initially seemed unbothered by the series of blows.
Countering a few strong attacks, Rhodes took the lead with a Cody Cutter. In hopes of recording the win early, The American Nightmare gave his opponent two Cross Rhodes. While he was going to conclude the match with a third, Lesnar converted it into his infamous Kimura lock.

While in the submission maneuver, Rhodes looked in immense pain. For a moment, it appeared like The American Nightmare had fainted. However, he was still in the match. Cody Rhodes kept kicking out even after getting smashed by an F5. Nevertheless, Brock Lesnar’s prowess was too much for Rhodes, as he fainted while locked in Kimura. Interestingly, Rhodes was in the lock for almost five minutes.
As the match ended, Lesnar was heavily booed by the fans, and a bottle was also thrown at The Beast Incarnate as the WWE Universe was disheartened following his victory over the top babyface of the company.
