Portuguese soccer icon Cristiano Ronaldo turned 38 on February 5, 2023. Many soccer players retire a few years before reaching that age. However, Ronaldo has maintained himself in such a way that he can still play soccer at the higher levels. But is he set to retire?
Ronaldo made his highly anticipated return to the Premier League by joining his former club Manchester United in the summer of 2021. The fairytale return was a fairytale only till the first game. Ronaldo scored a brace in United’s 4-1 win over Newcastle United. However, it went spiraling downward from there. United earned their worst points tally in the Premier League history in the 2021/22 season.
58 – Manchester United’s defeat leaves them on 58 points with just one Premier League game remaining this season, guaranteeing that 2021-22 will see their lowest ever points total in a campaign in the competition (previously 64 in 2013-14). Rebuild? pic.twitter.com/LLQS4LTEy8

In the coming season, Ronaldo was benched by new manager Erik ten Hag. He later slammed the club and manager in an interview with Piers Morgan. United and Ronaldo mutually terminated their contract in November 2022. The misery continued from there for Ronaldo as he was dropped to the bench in key games for Portugal as well in the World Cup 2022.
At the end of 2022, Ronaldo joined Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr. Moving out of Europe for the first time in his career. Does this call for the end of one of the greatest soccer careers? It is unlikely. Ronaldo has not put a timeline on his retirement. His contract with Al-Nassr keeps him at the club till the summer of 2025.

However, it will not take a genius to guess this was fake. Even Speed, who reacts hyperactively to the small things was very calm after hearing this. He continuously kept saying that sounded just like Ronaldo because he knows what Ronaldo sounds like. However, it could not be Ronaldo. He said:
“That sounds just like Ronaldo, bro. That sounds literally just like Ronaldo. I know y’all saying fake but that is Ronaldo voice… I know Ronaldo’s voice.”
Even though it did sound like Ronaldo, it was not Ronaldo. No such retirement speech has been released by Ronaldo. As of now, Ronaldo is happily playing in the middle east and hopes to play for many more years to come.
