Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has discussed purchasing WWE with Nick Khan, but he is unclear if the role is suited for him. While reports remain that WWE may be sold, it does not appear that “The Great One” will be the one to acquire it from Vince McMahon.
Fans believe Dwayne Johnson is a strong candidate for a possible WWE sale. Johnson, one of the highest-paid actors around the world, has the financial muscle as well as wrestling expertise to be a favorite in bidding wars.
When asked if The Rock might buy WWE, Dave Scherer of PW Insider highlighted why such a situation is exceedingly doubtful. “He would need a lot of partners and/or financing and honestly I don’t think he would want to make the move.”
The Rock admitted to having a “my plate is always full” mentality. He is a busy Hollywood actor with multiple other ventures. Thus the likelihood of him buying the world’s largest Wrestling promotion would be over the top right now.
Dwayne said, “I used to have this mentality … that, ‘Well, my plate is full. However, I’m going to make room for [more]’ and I would find a way to do that”
In an interview with BNN Bloomberg, he said that he talked to Nick Khan the CEO of WWE on this matter. He said “Nick and I have talked about that, and we always enjoy that over a bottle of Teremana. I love the wrestling business. I grew up in it. My grandfather [and] my dad started here in Canada, where [his father] was born. So, I’m not quite too sure if a board seat is in my future, but possibly other things are in my future, for sure.”
Although the chances of Dwayne buying WWE are slim, he can still obtain some partners and come close to the estimated WWE worth and buy WWE if it ever becomes available for sale.
Will AEW buy WWE?
Tony Khan, the owner and founder of AEW, has addressed the possibility of purchasing WWE and has stated that he and his family are “capable of making significant investments.”

Tony Khan, the owner of AEW, and his father, Shahid Khan, may be among the potential buyers, with some suggesting that the two wrestling firms join. Tony Khan was asked about purchasing WWE on The Maggie and Perloff Show (h/t to Wrestling Inc) and admits he’s interested in the possibility of a sale.
Tony said, “I am interested in the news that there is potentially a sales process and certainly, I think we’ve shown, when there are acquisitions and transactions, we’re capable of making the big purchases”
The Khan family could be a potential buyer for WWE, however given the market value (a reported $6.5 Billion) of WWE, the Khan family may need to find some partners to close the acquisition.
