SUMMARY
- Drew McIntyre is getting a lot of negativity for his showcase at the 2024 Royal Rumble.
- McIntyre is accused of hurting Cody Rhodes and CM Punk at the Royal Rumble.
The Royal Rumble 2024 was surely an event to remember, as it had some unforgettable moments. It had solid fan engagement throughout the event, with only four matches on display. Royal Rumble also achieved huge numbers in viewership and was financially a great event for the company. However, out of all the positives, Drew McIntyre is getting a lot of negativity for his showcase at the event.
The fans also got to see CM Punk’s in-ring televised return to WWE after nearly 10 years. The Best in the World came in at number 27 and locked horns with everyone during the match. His most notable interaction was with The Scottish Warrior when the two engaged in a huge brawl. McIntyre was setting the pace in the closing moments of the match, battling with Punk.
Drew went on to give a Future Shock DDT to CM Punk, who was devastated after the move and rolled to the corner of the ring. Punk began gripping his right arm, which was followed by the referees having a check on the superstar. McIntyre has been pumped up in his character and has been portraying a dark side for the last couple of months. According to the people in attendance, The Best in the World might have suffered an injury.

Fans showed their reactions to the intense injury during the match and called out Drew McIntyre for his actions. “McIntyre seemed to be working a bit stiff last night,” commented a user on McIntyre’s performance. Others were concerned about Punk and praised him for ending the match. “The man got hurt and still closed the match with excellence,” said a user on X.
Despite not being 100%, CM Punk completed the match and was even in the final two of the match. He was tested for a long time by The American Nightmare before being thrown out of the match. Punk’s return has been glorious, but he needs to back it up by being in the main event of WrestleMania. He is rumored to face Seth Rollins at the event for the World Championship.
Cody Rhodes lost his tooth because of Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble
Drew McIntyre’s path of destruction didn’t seem to stop at CM Punk. During the ending moments of the match, McIntyre unleashed on Cody Rhodes with a fierce Claymore Kick. The Claymore was so vicious that it popped Cody’s tooth out. The American Nightmare surely wasn’t backed down by anything but a win as he completed the match, winning his second Royal Rumble match consecutively.

Despite being injured and one tooth down, Rhodes finished the match by eliminating Punk. The American Nightmare has booked his ticket for the main event of WrestleMania for the second time in a row. He made his intentions clear on which champion he would face by pointing at Roman Reigns after winning the match.
Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract will expire in 2024
Drew McIntyre might have shown his fierce side to the fans; it may be seen for a matter of months. McIntyre’s WWE contract was set to expire in 2024, and he hasn’t signed a new one yet. If he is not able to sign a contract, he would be free to leave and sign with any other company right after WrestleMania 40.
McIntyre has been provided with a lot of opportunities since his return to the company. He went on to win the Royal Rumble in 2020 and became the WWE Champion for the first time in his career. The Scottish Warrior had one of the most successful runs in the Stanford-based promotion and is an immense fan favorite. Hopefully, Drew will reach out for a new contract with WWE and continue his dark persona.
