Dustin Poirier has taken to X (fka Twitter) recently to make a shocking revelation regarding his upcoming scheduled fight. He had a scheduled bout against Benoit Saint-Denis in the co-main event at UFC 299 in March 2024. But according to his recent tweet, there seems to be a change in the plans.
‘The Diamond’ put out a tweet saying, “My fights off but still working.” It has made fans of the UFC go into a frenzy, as many had high hopes for the interesting matchup between the American and the Frenchman. What’s more, is that there are contrasting opinions surrounding Poirier’s tweet at the moment.

Just moments after Dustin’s tweet, Shakiel Mahjouri, a journalist at @CBSSports, claimed to have been in contact with the camp of Benoit Saint-Davis. In his tweet, Mahjouri said, “Benoit Saint-Denis’ camp tells me he’s “of course” still competing at #UFC299. This comes after Dustin Poirier tweeted “my fights off.” Unusual development since Poirier said he’s “still working.”
The drama on the internet does not end there, as Benoit Saint-Denis himself came on X to clear up any assumptions regarding his availability for the showdown at UFC 299. ‘God Of War’ tweeted, “(translated from French) Guys, stay calm, stay focused. I count the days until @ufc 299”.

If only that were all the drama. Renowned MMA journalist Brett Okamoto has now tweeted out a message that Poirier reportedly texted him. Brett tweeted, “Dustin Poirier (@DustinPoirier) expands on his recent “fights off” tweet (against Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 299) to me via text … “There was no contractual agreement before the fight was announced and we couldn’t come to terms.”“
