WWE legend, The Rock’s foray into Hollywood has brought nothing but success to the star. Dwayne Johnson left WWE in 2004 to seek a career in the film industry. This has led to many successful films during his nearly 19-year acting career and has also led to him starring in films such as Black Adam and the Fast and Furious franchise. After appearing in the post-credits scene in Fast X as Hobbs, he has now confirmed the much-anticipated news.
Taking to his social media handles, Johnson recently remarked that he swept his past with Vin Diesel under the rug and that he will be returning to his role as Hobbs in the future renditions of the franchise. The Rock also stated in a video from Hawai that he was looking forward to breaking the news, as it was hard to keep it to himself.

“Hobbs is back! Despite our differences, me and Vin, we’ve been like brothers for years. Despite our differences, when you lead with the idea of number one – resolve, but then also you think about the future, you think about the bigger plans, and those plans are the North Star. The North star is always my guiding light. […] In this case, the North star is the franchise that we love, the characters that we love, and the fans that we love.”
In the caption of the video on Instagram, Dwayne Johnson stated that he and Vin Diesel “put all the past behind” them and that they will lead the franchise with “brotherhood and resolve.” He also vowed to take care of the franchise, the fans, and the characters. The hard-hitting duo is finally back on track, and with John Cena on board, things could get furious.

Johnson left the franchise after Fate of the Furious and the spin-off Hobbs and Shaw owing to differences with Vin Diesel. The WWE legend has since been asked back to the franchise by Vin Diesel. He will now feature in the next edition of the Fast and Furious movies, which will reportedly be a trilogy.
The film has been touch and go in terms of being a hit or a flop at the box office. In the opening weekend, it reportedly only grossed $67 million in domestic revenue and amassed a total of $320 million worldwide, including the domestic numbers. While the movie is still doing well in terms of numbers, the reviews of the project have been scathing. Hence, it will be interesting to see what the box office total is at the end of the movie’s theatrical run.
