Epic Games is taking a big step towards cost-saving measures by making significant staff layoffs. Unfortunately, one of the most affected studios is Mediatonic, the brilliant team behind the widely popular game Fall Guys. In March 2021, Epic Games acquired Mediatonic after their captivating multiplayer game took the world by storm during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Based on several reports and statements from affected employees, it appears that Mediatonic has suffered a significant impact due to this reduction. While some sources have suggested that the entire London studio has been closed, no confirmation from any Mediatonic staff regarding this has been made.

However, employees have come together and shared a revamped Mediatonic logo featuring the word “Decimation.” The folks at the office rearranged the letters typically used to depict the company’s name. This image was shared on Twitter by Ed Fear, a talented designer and writer involved in the creation of Mediatonic’s fantastic 2020 game, Murder By Numbers.
Mediatonic staff layoff at Epic
In a recent email, Tim Sweeney, the CEO of Epic, addressed the regrettable layoffs that affected more than 830 employees, making up 16% of the Epic family. Nevertheless, he wanted to reassure everyone that despite this difficult situation, Epic’s commitment to investing in games will remain steadfast. Tim later posted this message on the company’s website, reinforcing our dedication to creating incredible experiences together.
He made it clear that they are fully committed to their core businesses and will keep providing extensive support for game development in Fortnite. As a result of inflation and currency fluctuations, Epic Games is also raising V-bucks in Fortnite. They will also be investing in Rocket League and Fall Guys. As a result, they are determined to reduce costs without compromising the progress of the primary areas of focus.
unfortunately, i’m one of the unlucky people affected by the Epic lay-offs today.
if anyone is looking for an experienced art lead or generalist, ideally in stylized games, please give me a shout ❤️🙏

Several Epic staff members have taken to Twitter to share their honest emotions regarding the recent layoffs. Those affected by the downsizing will be provided with six months of their base salary, along with extra healthcare coverage and benefits, as part of their severance package. It’s clear that this unfortunate situation has greatly affected many individuals.
