WWE Fastlane got to an epic start as the event was kicked off by the Undisputed Tag Team Championship bout. The Judgement Day defended their tag titles against the duo of Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes and it was an entertaining match.
While the in-ring action glued the WWE universe onto their screens, a particular moment came as a surprise. It happened in the middle of this bout, as the commentary team gave a surprising reference to The Bullet Club.
It was none other than WWE broadcaster Micheal Cole, who referred to the iconic faction during the match. The 56-year-old on-screen figure pointed out how Finn Balor was the first ever leader of the group, and he’s fighting Cody, who is another former leader of the stable.
Michael Cole: “The first leader of the Bullet Club, Finn Bálor facing another leader of the Bullet Club, Cody Rhodes.”

As Cole gave this unusual reference to the pro wrestling group, his fellow Commentator Corey Graves handled it pretty well. Lighting up Micheal, he said, “Get those Twitter points Cole.” It must be noted that before joining WWE Balor was a popular name in NJPW, and that’s when he formed Bullet Club in May 2013.
Few years after Finn’s departure from the faction, Cody became the leader, and WWE giving a reference to the group was just expected. Was it just a slip of tongue, or was it done on purpose? Nobody really knows, but as such things don’t happen that often, it was quite surprising.
Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso pulled off a surprising victory
While this Bullet Club reference was an interesting thing, an even surprising thing was The Judgment Day losing their titles. Everyone must have thought that the heel faction would win this match by some interference. But much to the delight of fans, the result at Fastlane was in favor of the babyfaces.
In the final moments of the match, other members of the heel faction came out to provide some backup, but it worked oppositely for their teammates. JD McDonagh’s failed interference was the turning point in this encounter, as it helped the babyfaces gain momentum.

After taking out Priest by having him go through the announce table, Cody went inside the ring. Doing brilliant teamwork to hit their moves, Cody and Jey were able to finally dethrone the heels from their titles.
With the duo pulling off a surprising victory at Fastlane, the rivalry is expected to continue going forward. When will The Judgment Day get their rematch to try regaining the titles? Only the future knows the answer to this question.
