Gordon Ryan is widely regarded as one of the greatest BJJ practitioners in the modern era. The five-time ADCC World Champion has achieved almost everything that there is to achieve in the world of BJJ. However, it won’t be wrong to say that he still has a little blemish on his BJJ record in form of a decision win over Dillon Danis.
Despite coming out victoriously, Gordon is often ridiculed for failing to submit BJJ black belt, Dillon Danis, during their meeting back at ADCC 2017. Interestingly enough, Gordon secured a stoppage win in the seven matches he fought before losing in the finals against Felipe Pena. The only other time Gordon went to the judges’ scorecard at ADCC 2017 was against Alexandre Ribeiro, a two-time World Jiu-Jitsu Champion.

Danis, who has somehow become a huge name in the world of mixed martial arts, all credit to his social media antics and his association with Conor McGregor back in 2016, was a huge name in the BJJ community back in the day. However, a lot has changed now.
Gordon Ryan wants a rematch against Dillon Danis
Considering Dillon Danis’ reputation in the world of combat sports has reduced to being a “joke,” it’s safe to say Gordon Ryan’s failure to submit him back in 2017 hasn’t aged well. And the King wants to run it back!

While Ryan is confident now that he is a much bigger name than the former trainer of Conor McGregor, there was a time when he was worried he would get ignored by Danis because he had fewer followers on Instagram.
“But now, between ADCC and Rogan, and doing some things, and I keep winning; now my Instagram followers are probably almost big enough where he can actually publicly acknowledge me. Because before, he wouldn’t acknowledge me, because he knew that if he did, I would just get a lot of his followers. Now I am approaching like 800,000, so now I am not too far off his count. So now I think I am getting famous enough before he can actually acknowledge me, so maybe we can do a match eventually.” Ryan said.
Ryan has never missed a chance at dissing Danis and believes that he is trying to run away from a rematch. Danis, who is arguably the biggest name in BJJ despite not competing for several years now, has not really commented on the same. Gordon reveals that he has even offered Danis a rematch based on 10-1 odds, putting in the condition of no time limit as well. But to no avail.
Dillon Danis is set to make his professional boxing debut against YouTuber turned professional boxer KSI set to go down on January 14 set to take place in Wembley Arena in London.
