There was heavy speculation that a fight could easily be arranged due to the similarity in the background and healthy relations between the fellow fighters of Dagestan. However, no update came through.
Magomedov was recently asked about the potential matchup and if any developments were going on behind the scenes. The UFC fighter revealed that he hasn’t seen Khabib since he called out for the wrestling match. He added that he wanted the fight back then, but the situation has changed now.

Magomedov stated: “Back then I indeed wanted it. But not anymore. When I look at Khabib, he looks big. I wanted to wrestle him when he was around the same weight as me. I believe now, he is heavier than me physically. I wanted to feel that strength that he had when he was still competing. But now I understand that he is really a bear and he can just break me”.
Khabib Nurmagomedov has been enjoying his life since he retired from the UFC. The Russian wrestler claimed in 2022 that he weighs more than 200 lbs now and no longer focuses on his diet. Magomedov’s claims that Khabib is like a bear now are correct, and the weight difference between the two Russian fighters can be a decisive factor if they ever set up a fight.
Is Sharabutdin Magomedov related to Khabib Nurmagomedov?
Sharabutdin Magomedov’s background has often raised queries on whether the Russian fighter is related to Khabib Nurmagomedov. For any casual fan, the query is understandable due to the similarity in the surnames of both Dagestan fighters.
Despite the similarities, Magomedov is not related to the former UFC champion. A few relatives of Khabib are active fighters, which include Abubakar Nurmagomedov, Umar Nurmagomedov, and Bellator fighter Usman Nurmagomedov.

Sharabutdin Magomedov also had a different fighting style than Khabib. The middleweight is a strong striker with an impressive finishing record. He made his UFC debut with a record of 10 KO/TKO in his 11 fights. Magomedov made his debut in UFC 294 and impressed the fans with his win against Bruno Silva. The Russian striker is speculated to feature in the UFC’s first-ever event in Saudi Arabia in March.
