NBA fans are calling out Kendrick Perkins for his ever-changing stance on 2x NBA MVP Nikola Jokic. As most of us should be aware, Perkins is a former player who tried his hand with the media after his career ended. He has been seen several times by fans as a guest speaker on ESPN alongside Stephen A Smith.
Perkins’ earlier comments about Nikola Jokic heading into the MVP results this season were very controversial. He was at the receiving end of plenty of criticism for his statements. Although his new perspective seems to be discrediting the old one, fans aren’t ready to let the world forget what he said in the first place.
What did Kendrick Perkins say about Nikola Jokic’s lead in the MVP race?
Some fans might be aware that the mainstream NBA media have been speaking a little too freely in recent times. Controversial and questionable statements are made all the time just for the media person to generate a hot take and more views or clicks.
This NBA season had three players leading the MVP conversation; Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Joel Embiid. All three players put up incredible stat lines while carrying their teams to top positions in their respective conferences. Therefore, it was very hard to vote for one star in particular.
Jokic’s stellar play all year long led fans to believe that he was deserving of the MVP award. When discussing Nikola’s performances, Perkins indicated that Jokic being white had something to do with the fact that he was being recognized for his talents.
Wasnt this the same guy saying people who vote for jokic are racist?

This is clearly some form of reverse racism and Kendrick Perkins was viciously attacked for his statements, “he just cost him a mvp but ok” and “Wasnt this the same guy saying people who vote for jokic are racist?” are some of the many reactions by fans when Perkins issued a new statement,
“We should do a better job of promoting and marketing him.”

Although there is no denying that Kendrick was out of line for his statements, he is one among many members of the media who constantly share controversial opinions. We are glad to see that he is being called out and reminded of his own words in the past. Hopefully, the media will be careful while discussing players moving forward.
