It is a well-known fact that Serena Williams is a top-class athlete and is a living testament to the term “girl power”. If anyone tries to play the fool with her, they are definitely in for a rude shock as a man who tried to steal her phone in a restaurant found out.
The incident took place in a Chinese restaurant and Serena Williams chose to describe it dramatically on her Facebook page by posting a picture, where she was dressed up in a superhero outfit. As described by Serena, “My phone was sitting in the chair but I just didn’t feel right…” She continued “He was there too long. ‘Is he a customer?’ I thought ‘Is he waiting on the bathroom?’”
Serena quipped that her “superhero sense” was proven right when the person she was mentioning took her phone and moved out of the restaurant. But, not the person to budge against such actions, she chased him down. As Serena puts it, “He began to run but I was too fast. (Those sprints came in handy) I was upon him in a flash!”

She then asked him in the most menacing yet in a no-nonsense tone whether he had accidentally taken the wrong phone. The person who probably didn’t expect such a response, started to fumble after which Ms.Williams was able to retrieve her phone.
Thus, Serena wanted everyone to listen to their superhero inner voice which would make one proud and receive an ovation like she did. Serena added that every lady should not be afraid to stand up against bullies or other challenges. According to her, it was a win for the ladies and she wants every one of them to be a hero and not a victim!
Instances where Serena Williams has retorted back at critics like a champion
This is not the only occasion when Serena has hit back at critics. Once, John McEnroe, a tennis great in his own right, had said that she would rank 700th among male tennis players. Williams didn’t hold herself back and tweeted, “Dear John, I adore and respect you but please please keep me out of your statements that are not factually based.” It didn’t end there as Serena placed a request to respect her privacy.
After winning the 2015 Wimbledon, Serena shut down people who were body shaming her in her own style by posting pictures, which were taken at a Swedish beach. She went to the extent of shaping her eyebrows to silence haters who were trolling the size of her brows and posting it on social media. But, she still stood by what she had, saying that she liked them to be all-natural, though.
When reporters questioned her tennis skills, despite her having the most number of Grand Slam wins for a woman, Serena wouldn’t let the question pass by and made the reporter apologize. Also, after winning against her sister Venus Williams in the 2015 US Open, Serena was asked why wasn’t she smiling. She candidly replied “What’s wrong?” and capped it off with a shrug.
