Ja Morant has attracted plenty of attention in recent times and it has been for all the wrong reasons. Recently, The Washington Post reported that Morant was accused of threatening a 17-year-old with a gun. However, it was later revealed that Morant only had the gun in his waistband, and did not point it at the young boy.
For those who don’t know, Ja hosted a pick-up basketball game at his Tennessee home. It all went wrong when the pair got into a fight and Ja reportedly punched the boy “12-13” times. Although he has been one to lose it on the court at times, Ja reiterated to police that it was self-defense. However, the boy’s mother filed a lawsuit against the NBA guard and it has been a talking point since then.
What is the recent update on Ja Morant’s allegations?
Recently, Ja angered fans after allegedly flashing a gun in an Instagram live. This couldn’t come at a worse time for the player, considering the controversy that has been making waves on social media in the last few days. Many believed that he was knowingly “trying to ruin” his career. The NBA hadn’t commented on the issue, until now.

NBA’s spokesperson Mike Bass has broken silence on Ja’s Instagram live, according to Adrian Wojnarowski. He said, “We are aware of a social media post involving Ja Morant and are investigating.”

This is the first time the NBA has begun an investigation on Morant. Recently, a fake video of NBA commissioner Adam Silver addressing the issue and suspending Ja indefinitely went viral. However, it is not known whether that will be the case right now. We have seen many players fined and suspended for similar antics.
Morant could well and truly face the consequences of his actions at the nightclub recently. Many have had a go at him, including Shannon Sharpe, who questioned his choices to “pretend to be a thug.” Whatever the case, only time will tell how this will play out for Ja and the Grizzlies, as he’s the face of the Tennessee-based franchise.
