The upcoming pay-per-view event, WWE Payback 2023, is just around the corner. It is all set to take place on September 2, 2023, at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Since the PPV event is near, several speculations have been making the rounds. However, one thing that the fans are curious to know is about the appearance of the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns at the event.
Unfortunately, Reigns has not been advertised for Payback 2023 and will not be present at the Premium Live Event taking place this Saturday.
The Tribal Chief was previously seen at the last pay-per-view event, SummerSlam 2023 which took place in August. At the aforementioned event, Reigns successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship and the recognition of The Tribal Chief against Jey Uso. This happened following an intentional interference from Jimmy Uso.
Since then, a lot has happened with The Tribal Chief. Though he appeared on WWE SmackDown following SummerSlam, he was taken out by Jey. Also, it was the same episode where Jey announced his departure from WWE. Since then, the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion hasn’t made his presence felt on WWE television.
No one knows when Reigns will make his next appearance. It might be announced soon or even make a surprise appearance. Meanwhile, Payback 2023 is near, and Reigns has not been advertised for the event.
Which superstars will be in action at WWE Payback 2023?
While Roman Reigns won’t be seen in action at WWE Payback 2023, several other WWE superstars will be in action at the Premium Live Event. A total of six matches have been announced for the event.
In one of the matches scheduled, Becky Lynch will go up against WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus in a Steel Cage match. On the other hand, Rhea Ripley is all set to defend the Women’s World Championship against Raquel Rodriguez at the event.
Also, Rey Mysterio and Seth Rollins will be seen defending their Championships against Austin Theory and Shinsuke Nakamura, respectively. Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens will also defend their Championships in a Steel City Street Fight match against Finn Balor and Damian Priest of The Judgment Day.

Moreover, WWE Superstar LA Knight will face The Miz. These are the superstars that will definitely be seen in action at the event. However, with surprise entries and unexpected moments, more superstars might be seen inside the ring at Payback 2023.
Also, Grayson Waller, Cody Rhodes, and John Cena are set to make their presence felt at the PPV event. While Cena is all set to host the event, Rhodes and Waller will be featured in a special edition of ‘The Grayson Waller Effect’. Only time will tell if these superstars will end up in action inside the ring or not. Till then, let’s patiently wait for the event to kick off.
