UFC middleweight Khamzat Chimaev recently sent the MMA world into a frenzy, and he didn’t even have to enter the Octagon for it. The 29-year-old Russian native shared a clip featuring a Facetime between him and controversial internet personality Andrew Tate.
Since coming under house arrest in March, the former 4-time kickboxing champion has remained quite vocal on Twitter. Be it his swift rise to fame or the sudden downfall in December 2022, Tate seemed to have garnered strong backing from several personalities, including UFC fighters.
Though initially unexpected, the conversation between him and Chimaev didn’t surprise many. ‘Top G’ has expressed in fighting for the UFC in the past. But injuries and a prolonged career in kickboxing deemed him unable to enter that path. Tate has even rubbed shoulders with the likes of Aljamain Sterling, Sean O’Malley, and Merab Dvalishvili during the UFC 280 fight week.

In what appears to be a cordial conversation, the two exchanged pleasantries and showed deep admiration toward one another. To further strengthen their newfound brotherhood, the duo expressed a mutual desire to meet in person.
As per the clip, Andrew pointed to his beard before saying, “Bro, look you started a fashion. THIS!” To which Khamzat retorted, “Shave your mustache, brother. you’re gonna be a wrestler like me, brother.”
If allowed, Tate expressed interest in attending Khamzat’s next fight live from the arena. He said, “I’ll do anything it takes, You know if it’s possible I’ll be there a hundred percent.” ‘Borz‘ responded with – “I hope so, brother. I hope [to] see you soon, brother. I have to see you, brother”
While Andrew wished him luck, the controversial star also acknowledged that Chimaev did not need it. Tate said, “I wish you good luck in your next fight. but it ain’t gonna last long, you don’t need it.”
Khamzat Chimaev Facetiming Andrew Tate has fans in splits
While his next opponent remains unknown, fans now know who to expect ringside once Khamzat makes his way to the cage. It remains to be seen though if the Romanian courts will allow Andrew to make it to the other side of the world. Based on how it appears right now, Tate isn’t allowed outside his residency in Romania.
Whether or not the authorities make an exception for “Top G,” is something only time will tell. Until then, fans seem to embrace the newly found brotherhood between the two personalities.

Amidst the air of uncertainty, specifics around Chimaev’s next fight still remain unclear, despite his well-established reputation for fearlessly taking on anyone. It has been a while since he last graced the Octagon. In September 2022, Khamzat Chimaev secured a dominant victory over Kevin Holland via 1st round submission.
Rumor says he will be back in action at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi, though nothing has been made official as of yet. But one can be sure that all eyes will be on him once he returns to the cage.
