He was 36 points away before the game. But LeBron made sure on the night to achieve the extraordinary feat. LeBron is in his 20th season in the NBA and is currently 38 years old. Many players would have retired at his age but James is still going strong. The Lakers superstar is still fighting to win NBA titles even though he has four to his name.
Is LeBron James the greatest athlete of all time?
The world was are of LeBron‘s greatness but his scoring record cements his place as one of the greatest athletes of all time. If that wasn’t enough, he also holds the 4th place in the all-time assists leaderboard. The numbers clearly indicate that James is undoubtedly one of the greatest athletes in sports history, but is he the greatest?
Many would claim that James is now the undisputed GOAT but the debate is subjective and truly depends on one’s opinion. Some fans might believe that Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant are the greatest. Soccer fans could bring up Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo’s name. Whatever the case, there will be no doubt about LeBron’s greatness and what he achieved.
The Lakers superstar made it look easy to become the leading scorer in the NBA. But the time it took for anyone to break Kareem’s record speaks at length about his brilliance as well. Speaking of the 6x NBA champ, he has mentioned that he would like to witness James break his record as well. The NBA icon was also in the arena when LeBron became the NBA’s leading scorer. Kareem’s reign might be over, but it certainly does not affect his legacy, he will remain one of the league’s greatest players.
LeBron will now focus on the Lakers’ season, who are sitting in 13th. The 17x NBA champs are also 12 wins away from the top spot, which currently belongs to the Denver Nuggets. James will aim to lead the Lakers to the playoffs this year, after missing it two years in a row. Even though the scoring title is now his, LeBron will continue to keep up the numbers until the end of his illustrious and legendary career.
