However, the ‘Rocky’ British fighter is already looking ahead by locking horns with Belal Muhammad.
The UFC Welterweight Champion went online to respond to Muhammad’s continuous online onslaught. He addressed the jabs from Muhammad by stating, “lol belal calm down son you’re the least intimidating person in the organization. I already told UFC I don’t mind I’ll fight you next that’s easy work. You just have to figure out why they hate you so much”.
The tweet from Edwards showed clear intent. The champion is accepting the challenge with open arms by jabbing back at Belal Muhammad. He points back to state that Muhammad is not intimidating, and his internal image in the organization is the only thing holding this fight back.

Belal Muhammad stole the spotlight leading up to UFC 296 when he added fuel to the rumors that he was replacing Colby Covington against Edwards due to an injury to Covington. The American MMA fighter has been shoehorned into the discussion of a title fight against Edwards and might soon get his wish if Dana White approves this fight.
Muhammad last fought back in May 2023, when he won against Gilbert Burns in a unanimous decision in five rounds at UFC 288. The fighter has been impressive with his striking and might be a handful for Edwards in his next fight.
Belal Muhammad’s reaction to Leon Edwards’ performance against Colby Covington
Leon Edwards won over Colby Covington in the UFC 296 main event in a dominant fashion. He also won by unanimous decision in five rounds but was convincing throughout the fight. While many fans and experts applauded Edwards’ performance, Belal Muhammad wasn’t impressed.
The Welterweight challenger took it to ‘X’ to respond to the fight stats of Edwards and Covington. A fan tweeted a picture that compared the strikes of each fighter in the five rounds of the UFC 296 main event. Edwards won four rounds in pure numbers, but as per the fan, ‘Rocky’ slowed down in the fight, which made him vulnerable against fighters like Muhammad and Shavkat Rakhmonov.

Muhammad jumped on the opportunity by weighing down the opinion; he quoted: “This is the champion lol ..I’ll break him in 3.” The battle line was drawn by Belal, who fought only once in 2023. Meanwhile, Edwards defended his title twice in 2023 and ended the year on a high. There is no official news from the UFC about Edwards’ next opponent, but Belal Muhammad currently leads the line with his record and online promotion game.
