Tennis legend Martina Navratilova is a very outspoken woman. It is a trait that has often got her into trouble in the past, especially on social media. Navratilova has gained an ill repute for her incendiary remarks on transgender issues. Her recent comment on swimmer Lia Thomas only adds to it.
Jennifer Anne, a women’s rights activist shared her experience with the YWCA Canada. It is the largest gender equality organization in the country. Anne took to social media to address her issue with the organization, which removed her from a webinar.
Jennifer shared a screenshot of her question, where she shared her worries about using the YWCA facilities. Her main concern revolved around having to share facilities with “Men who identify as women.” Anne tagged YWCA, asking them why they had removed her. Martina retweeted it, adding her own opinion on the issue.

It is not surprising given Martina’s history of supporting anti-trans rhetoric. Fans have called out the 18-time Grand Slam champion for her beliefs doing more harm than good. However, Navratilova is firm in her stance.
A fan pointed out that Navratilova should not blindly believe Anne’s account, as people make up stories. Navratilova then cited the example of Lia Thomas, a trans swimmer, saying, “Lia Thomas sure did, so yeah, believe it.”

Riley Gaines accused Lia of showing her private parts in the locker room. Gaines added that they were not warned about sharing a room with Lia. “We did not give our consent, they did not ask for our consent,” said Riley (via Daily Mail).
Martina Navratilova has always been vocal in her opposition to the inclusion of trans athletes. But her opinions are not just limited to athletes, since she has often targeted other trans individuals with her tweets.

Navratilova recently directed her disproval at those attending the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco. It is well-known for its annual fair celebrating kink, leather, and other minority communities.
Martina shared her opinion on one of the attendees at the street fair. The individual had undergone female-to-male gender-affirming surgery while posing next to a man dressed as a priest.

Martina Navratilova, while being a queer woman herself, always mocks transgender individuals. Fans now openly wonder if she really is the LGBTQIA+ ally she claims to be.
