Mark Zuckerberg has been falling in love with the sport of MMA for quite some time now. And it’s only right that MMA fans have started to love him more and more with each passing day. The American billionaire has well-documented his love for the sport and has met up and trained with many famous MMA personalities.
Some famous names include the 2-time former UFC Middleweight Champion, Israel Adesanya, and the current featherweight champion of the UFC, Alexander Volkanovski. The 39-year-old has been training extensively in Jiu-Jitsu since he first started knowing and learning about the sport. He has also trained under the 4-time world Jiu-Jitsu champion Mikey Musumeci and is good friends with him.

In May 2023, as posted on Facebook by himself, Mark, who is now a blue belt in Jiu-Jitsu, participated in a Jiu-Jitsu tournament. He even went on to win a few medals in the same tournament. This shows the progress he has made as a Jiu-Jitsu disciple. Furthermore, the founder of Facebook was touted to have a cage fight against the current owner of X (aka Twitter), Elon Musk, in 2023.
Why does Meta care so much about Mark Zuckerberg practicing MMA?
Meta has recently released its annual financial report along with a statement about its concerns regarding Mark Zuckerberg’s involvement in mixed martial arts. Long story short, the company isn’t quite happy with Mark’s increasing love for the sport. Fearing injuries like the ACL injury Mark had while sparring for MMA in November 2023.
In the financial report, Meta stated, “We currently depend on the continued services and performance of our key personnel, including Mr. Zuckerberg and certain other members of management participate in various high-risk activities, such as combat sports, extreme sports, and recreational aviation, which carry the risk of serious injury and death.”
On Thursday, Meta filed a 132-page 10-K to the SEC detailing the risks to their business. It included a paragraph about Mark Zuckerberg becoming incapacitated through the risky sports he participates in. pic.twitter.com/5EbdzEtuVy

The warning further continued, “If Mr. Zuckerberg were to become unavailable for any reason, there could be a material adverse impact on our operations.”
It looks like Meta is seriously concerned over Mark’s involvement in the combat sport, but they do not need to worry much. While injuries are a possibility, especially with Mark Zuckerberg returning from one, death is something that rarely happens in sports. But what do fans think about this? Let’s take a look.
Fans react to Meta’s concern over Mark Zuckerberg’s love for MMA
Following Meta’s statements over Zuckerberg’s love for MMA, an Instagram handle called mmaonpoint, which covers MMA-related content, posted the news on Instagram. Fans were in a frenzy seeing such a statement being made by Facebook’s parent company. Most of them were opposed to it and made it known in their own way.
One fan wrote, “Taking away a Man’s happiness”. Another said, “Being concerned because a person has hobbies is insane”. The general consensus was that Mark shouldn’t be made to stop practicing MMA. A user commented, “God forbid he becomes a real person”. Referring to how, otherwise, a billionaire of a huge business is often cooped up in the office, unlike normal human beings.
Another fan concurred, saying, “he’s acting too human like. can’t have him assimilated to our culture too much he’s dangerous”. Some others made hilarious comments about how the board members are maybe getting scared of Mark. One fan said, “They worried that in the next board meeting he’ll rear neck choke someone?” A user wrote, “They just don’t wanna get they a** beat that’s all.”
It is clear what MMA fans think about Meta’s supposed ‘concerns’ about Mark Zuckerberg. Especially with Zuckerberg falling in love with the sport, MMA fans rallied behind Mark on social media. It remains to be seen what happens next with Meta’s statements about their co-founder.
