Marlon Vera is an elite fighter in the UFC’s bantamweight division. Since his UFC debut in November 2014, Vera has amassed a UFC record of 14 wins and 6 losses. Most of his losses have come in the early part of his career. Following his loss to Douglas Silva de Andrade in February 2018, Mera has only had 2 losses and 10 wins. With wins over Sean O’Malley, Rob Font, and Dominick Cruz, Vera has transformed his career.
But his career is not the only thing that has transformed over the years. During his 9 years in the UFC, fans have seen Vera change his appearance many many times as well. From adding several tattoos on his body to changing hairstyles many many times, Vera has always kept his appearance fresh for the fans. While many did not notice his swagger prior, with Vera’s recent fame, fans are starting to pay attention to him more and more.
Vera appeared on a podcast with comedian Theo Von in late 2022. Von, who is a big UFC fan, pointed out Vera’s ever-changing hairstyles. In reply, Vera’s good sense of humor kicked in and revealed that his style is one of the reasons why his wife, Maria Escobar fell for him.
Marlon “Chito” Vera said, “I really change my hair like every four or six months.” When Theo Von praised his style and said he could be a great chameleon, the fighter replied, “I could be a great hitman, see? That’s why I know my wife liked me. It’s a new guy every two months and I can make her laugh, so.”
Marlon Vera and his many hairstyles
Marlon Vera has changed his look about 11 times during his UFC run so far. When he first came into the UFC, Vera maintained a very neat and clean look. With a fully-shaven face, Vera kept his hair very short and opted for buzz cuts or crew cuts. But, as his career progressed, Chito Vera started to maintain a mustache. However, he maintained the same haircut throughout the majority of his first few years in the UFC.

However, as he grew older and became a wily pro, it was also reflected in his hairstyle. Vera decided to grow out his hair and started to maintain braids. He also let his beard grow much longer and did not put much effort into trimming. As Vera himself added, he likes to freshen things up regularly. He even went bald for a few months as well. Almost every time Marlon Vera fights, fans can expect something new.
He is set to take on Cory Sandhagen at UFC San Antonio on March 25, 2023. Will he surprise the fans with something new on that day as well? It remains to be seen.
