The NBA trade deadline is almost upon us and Los Angeles Lakers star Anthony Davis has reportedly been enquired about by several franchises. As NBA fans will be aware, the Lakers are struggling to remain competitive this season and currently hold a record of 25 wins and 29 losses.
While AD has certainly been dominant when on the court, the team’s lack of success and regular season wins might just prompt them to make a move. Let us take a look at what AD brings to the table and how the Los Angeles Lakers have responded to all of this.
The Los Angeles Lakers shut down conversations involving trading Anthony Davis
According to the reports that came in, multiple NBA teams have enquired about Davis and potentially even offered packages for him behind the scenes. However, the Lakers’ management shut down all of this and made it clear that they have no intention of trading Anthony Davis away.

AD has only played in 30 games so far this season for the Los Angeles Lakers. In them, he has averaged 27.1 points, 12 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. Additionally, he has also been shooting an efficient 57.5% from the field and 83% from the free throw line. However, he has struggled shooting the three-pointer this season making only 28.3% of them.
The biggest flaw and criticism against Davis are his physical health and fragility. This is something that he has been called out on and even mocked for many years now. His missing multiple games and being injury prone is also why he hasn’t been selected for the 2023 NBA All-Star game.
While the critics make valid points, we also can’t deny that a healthy Anthony Davis seems to be virtually impossible. When he was playing at a high level earlier this season, the Lakers won 8 out of 10 games, the best stretch they have had this season.
Thus, it makes sense for them to discard the idea of trading Anthony Davis. With the exception of LeBron James and AD, all the others on the roster will be on the trade block for the next few days. After all, despite being a game or two away from securing the NBA scoring record, he still wants his team to compete for a title. Given that they are struggling, we might just see something happen soon.
