As the NFL regular season approaches, teams are finalizing their teams for the league. Recently, the New England Patriots were in the news for drafting quarterback Matthew Corral. Now, reports suggest that the team has recently signed star wide receiver Jalen Reagor.
ESPN journalist Adam Schefter first broke the news to the fans through a post on social media platform X. Schefter mentioned that Jalen Reagor has signed with the practice squad of the Patriots for now. He also revealed that the young talent might appear in the team’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
“Former Vikings’ WR Jalen Reagor, who cleared waivers today, is signing with the Patriots’ practice squad, per source. The Patriots play the Eagles in Week 1, and Reagor will be a candidate to be promoted for the game,” Schefter wrote.

It’s worth noting that the details of the contract between Reagor and the Patriots are not yet available. However, keeping his previous contracts in mind, it must be a big deal. Reagor signed his rookie deal with the Eagles in 2020 for four years. It was a $13.3 million contract, including a signing bonus of $7.2 million and an average yearly salary of $3.3 million.
After the Eagles, Jalen Reagor joined the Minnesota Vikings last year. He stayed with the team for one season before the team released him. Now, the Patriots must be expecting him to serve as the backup for their injured WR Tyquan Thornton.
Tracing the NFL career stats of Jalen Reagor
Born in January 1999, Jalen Reagor started playing football for Waxahachie High School. The wide receiver impressed everyone by receiving 1,000 yards for two consecutive seasons. Noticing Reagor’s talent, Waxahachie head coach Jon Kitna selected him for the Under Armour All-America Game in 2017.
In college, Jalen Reagor played for the TCU Horned Frogs. In his debut game with the team, he got two receptions, leading the team to a 63-0 win. Throughout his college career, the NFL star recorded 148 receptions for 2248 receiving yards. He had an average of 15.2 along with 22 touchdowns.
The Philadelphia Eagles selected Reagor as their 21st pick in the 1st round of the 2020 NFL draft. The WR recorded his first NFL touchdown in the game against the Dallas Cowboys. In his 3-year NFL career, Reagor has over 72 receptions for more than 799 yards. He also has 83 rushing yards with four touchdowns so far.
Jalen Reagor must be planning to show his talent during his time with the Patriots. If he turns out to be great, he might stay with the team for a longer period of time in the NFL.
