SUMMARY
- Dana White has given a surprising update on the main and co-main events at UFC 300.
- Previously, there were rumors that Conor McGregor might make his return at the UFC 300.
UFC 300 is only a couple of months away, and the fans are yet to know the main event for the quintessential card. Whilst there has been a lot of talk regarding the headliner, fans have been left to make up theoretical matchups. In the meantime, UFC President Dana White has given a surprising update on the matter.
Recently, the UFC boss appeared before the media after the latest Power Slap event. Responding to a question about announcing two more fights for UFC 300, White said, “Yes sir.” This prompted the media to ask whether it would be the main event and another fight, to which Dana responded, “Co-main event and another one.” Notably, the key phrase in question was that White specifically said that the co-main event was yet to be announced.

Previously, it was assumed that either Zhang Weili vs. Yan Xionan or Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway would be the co-main event. Speaking about the announcement date of these last two fights, White revealed, “I’d announce it now if we had it. We’ve gone through a lot of crazy sh*t, trying to put this fight together so, it’s been interesting. No date.” The statements have led to a lot of confusion, but at the same time, a lot of excitement for the fans.
What could be the main and co-main event fights?
For the most part, we’ve seen some wild theories regarding the UFC 300 main event. With a potential co-main event also thrown into the mix, the card could shape up to be the blockbuster fans have been asking for. Over the past few weeks, there have been numerous theories and ideas from fans and experts alike.
Previously, there were many rumors, including about names like Alex Pereira, Tom Aspinall, Brock Lesnar, Israel Adesanya, Conor McGregor, and more. However, the fans have since seen some of these names get ruled out as well. For one, Pereira will likely headline UFC 301 in Brazil against Jamahal Hill or Magomed Ankalaev. Tom Aspinall will likely face the winner of Curtis Blaydes vs. Jailton Almeida.

Other than that, Dana has already revealed that McGregor vs. Chandler will take place in the fall. Thus, many have pointed to Dricus du Plessis vs. Israel Adesanya as being the most probable main-event candidate. As for the second fight, we have already seen Leon Edwards jump the gun and reveal his intentions. Notably, his fight against Belal Muhammad has been in the works for a long time as well.
UFC 300 fight card and bout order
Although Dana White has made some conflicting statements regarding the remaining two fights, one can assume that we will be seeing a main and co-main announcement next. With the aforementioned fights being the most likely possibilities, it would make for worth adding to UFC 300. As such, let’s take a look at the full card and where each of the fights will be placed.
According to the UFC’s official website and ESPN, the first fight of the night is set to be Bobby Green vs. Jim Miller. However, in the past week, the fans have seen Dana state that Deiveison Figueiredo vs. Cody Garbrandt will be the first fight of the night. Currently, it is unknown whether it will be the first prelim or early prelim fight. Either way, every fight on the card so far is incredibly watchable.

However, considering that there are two spots left at the top, the main card and the prelims look incredibly stacked. All things considered, if the aforementioned fights are added on, it would be an expected addition. With White reportedly shooting something during the 2024 Super Bowl, fans can expect big news soon. In the meantime, what do you think the two yet-to-be-announced fights will be? Leave your thoughts in the comments.
