SUMMARY
- UFC middleweight fighter Sean Strickland is a controversial figure.
- In a 2023 interview, Strickland made some distasteful remarks on women.
UFC’s Sean Strickland has established himself as one of the most polarizing characters in the combat sports realm. His lack of filter on almost every other worldly issue has some laughing hysterically while downright disgusting others. Due to his brash approach, the 32-year-old has emerged as a fan favorite for a good chunk of the MMA community.
Strickland is set to face Abus Magomedov in the main event of this Saturday’s UFC Fight Night. He returns to the Octagon after defeating Nassourdine Imavov on days’ notice earlier this year. Ahead of the said bout, Sean pulled no punches in a pre-fight presser. The UFC middleweight contender has particularly strong feelings toward working women.
In his controversial rant, the California native discussed a woman’s place in the economy. “We need to go back to taking women out of the workforce, and maybe that’s where we f*cked up, you guys,” Strickland said. “We let women vote, no offense. Think about America prior to women voting. They tried to ban alcohol. I don’t even drink but I’m not trying to ban alcohol.”
“So you let these women come into the workforce, now we make less money. You got kids raising themselves on f*cking TikTok. We need to go back to 1958 after we f*cked up the Germans,” Sean continued.
“As a collective man group, we need to elect somebody who is gonna put women back in the kitchen,”

And to seemingly make things worse, Strickland added, “We need to put women back in the kitchen, only one man needs to be working. so I think as a collective man group we need to elect someone that’s gonna put women back in the kitchen, one man working, raise the wages, and build a f*cking wall.”
Sean Strickland is 8-3 at middleweight since transitioning to the division full-time in 2020. He has defeated the likes of Uriah Hall, Jack Hermansson, etc. during his tenure. One of his famous losses came at the hands of former middleweight champion Alex Pereira. Interestingly enough, the two were recently spotted training together.
This isn’t the first time Sean Strickland made fun of women
This is far from the first time Sean Strickland has made controversial remarks about women. Right after his loss to Pereira at UFC 276, Sean was looking to get back into the win column against Jared Cannonier. However, due to a finger infection, the 32-year-old had to spend some time recovering.
During that time, Sean chose to dive into hot waters again. During an episode of Brenda Schaub’s Food Truck Diaries, Strickland gave a detailed perspective on what he thought about women. “Bottom line is, women are very strong, they’re very amazing and I love them. But women are weak,” Sean said. “Women are f*cking weak.”
The UFC middleweight continued, “My manager, he j*rks off Izzy for a living, and he could probably fuck up Ronda Rousey. If you watch Gegard Mousasi wrestle Ronda Rousey, it’s like him playing with a little fucking puppy. What is Ronda Rousey going to fucking do?”
It is noteworthy that Sean’s rants have come with consequences, though. He was suspended from Twitter in the past after a rant about gun rights and transexuals. It is very clear that Strickland isn’t making friends with any of these remarks, yet he continues to remain an interesting subject in MMA interviews.
As for his fighting career, Sean Strickland’s MMA record stands at 28-6. Since the interview, a lot has changed in Strickland’s career as he defeated Abusupiyan Magomedov and then Israel Adesanya to become the middleweight champ. However, he failed to defend his belt against Dricus du Plessis at UFC 297 and lost the belt.
