Every fighter at UFC 300 tried to leave a mark with their performances but Renato Moicano left his mark with his performance as well as his post-fight interview. Moicano is known for some famous moments on the mic but his latest words were quite unexpected. The Brazilian fighter asked the people to study Ludwig von Mises’s book on economics. A very out-of-the-blue shoutout for an economist after a second-round TKO win.
Moicano defeated Jalin Turner in a lightweight bout at UFC 300 via a second-round TKO. The Brazilian has made extraordinary improvements in his fighting since he faced defeat against Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 272. His win over Turner was his third consecutive victory after the RDA loss. Moicano has continued to look impressive since that loss and continues to climb the lightweight pecking order.
‘I love private property, and let me tell you something, if you care about your fucking country, read Ludwig Von Mises and the 6 lessons of the Austrian Economic School, motherfuckers!’ – @moicanoufc 🔥

After his win over Turner, Moicano was interviewed by Joe Rogan inside the Octagon. Moicano concluded the interview by saying, “I love America, I love the Constitution…I want to carry…guns. I love private property. Let me tell you something. If you care about your…country, read Ludwig von Mises and the Six Lessons of the Austrian Economic School.”
Von Mises was an Austrian-American economist who died in 1973. Dana White has applied the ideology of free speech in the UFC and Moicano is making full use of it. According to the mises.org, “The “Six Lessons” Moicano references is the book Economic Policy by Mises, which was one of his most successful popular books. Republished in Brazil as Six Lessons, Economic Policy covers important topics such as capitalism, socialism, inflation, and more.”
Reports further suggest that the Austrian economic movement is growing in Brazil. Renato Moicano has given it further growth. His words have transcended the UFC.
Renato Moicano’s endorsement of Ludwig von Mises has transcended the UFC
Renato Moicano’s words have received a response from people who do not have any real connections to the UFC. Most notably, psychologist and author Jordan Peterson was left impressed with Moicano’s knowledge. He wrote, “This is unspeakably great,” on X after coming across the Brazilian fighter’s interview.
What a world. The satirists are Christian; the left shills for Big Pharma; and the deadly boxers have become profound economic philosophers.

Moicano was elated to know Peterson had responded to his interview. Further, Peterson wrote, “What a world. The satirists are Christian; the left shills for Big Pharma; and the deadly boxers have become profound economic philosophers.”
Political commentator Ben Shapiro was also left impressed. He wrote, “This is spectacular.”

A Bloomberg opinion article was even published soon after UFC 300. Tyler Cowen expressed his opinion on the rise of the economic findings of Von Mises.
Ludwig von Mises championed free markets and limited government intervention. At a time when communism was on the rise in Europe, he fled Nazi Germany and came to America. He believed central planning couldn’t replicate the market’s efficiency.
Renato Moicano explains why he mentioned Ludwig von Mises at UFC 300
Renato Moicano shed more insight into his thinking during the MMA Hour after UFC 300. He explained why he made the comments regarding Ludwig von Mises during his post-fight interview. He believes knowledge of Ludwig and his findings about the free market are the need of the hour.
“A lot of people talk to me about money. But, the problem is, it’s not about how much money you get, it’s about how much money you can keep,” Moicano said. “With the inflation how it is…and this book, he explained what the government does what your money with taxes and the way they break out of debt… The whole point of capitalism is about getting money. But what’s the point with inflation?

“The government wants people in bad places so they can keep the cycle of poverty…this is going to destroy not only the rich but the middle class too…in Brazil, people are going crazy with [my interview], a lot of people have gotten interested in it and how people are getting taxed with inflation. My message is so important…it’s crystal clear. If you don’t control the debt, that’s going to ruin this country. We need a free market of ideas.”
As for Moicano’s future in the UFC, Paddy Pimblett had called out the Brazilian and they have been going back and forth recently. The Brazilian called Pimblett an “easy fight” and one he would go for if the money was right. He also stated that he wanted to fight the loser of Charles Oliveira vs Arman Tsarukyan. As Do Bronx lost that fight via decision, Moicano could try to set up a fight against his countryman.
