SUMMARY
- Paddy Pimblett is one of the most known fighters in the UFC, known for his shenanigans with his diet.
- The Baddy has a tendency of not maintaining his physique and eating whatever he wants.
Paddy Pimblett is currently one of the more polarizing characters on the UFC roster. Despite his relatively short time in the promotion, he has become a major talking point, primarily due to his dietary habits. As such, Joe Rogan and Sean Brady also had something to say.
Recently, the UFC color commentator and Brady linked up for JRE MMA Show #152. On the show, the duo discussed numerous topics, including the state of the welterweight division. Among some of the other topics they touched on, was Paddy “The Baddy” and his eating disorder. As many are likely aware, a fighter’s diet in and out of camp is deemed essential to their health.
Speaking on the podcast, Brady referred to the Englishman by saying, “That boy is FAT. It is a wild way to live.” Similarly, Rogan who has touched on the topic in the past, chimed also in,“It’s crazy how much weight he gains, it’s nuts. He was shredded during that (UFC296) fight.” Naturally, considering the very obvious and visible changes, many have often had a lot to say about the fighter.
For one, Paddy uncontrollably gains weight after his fights. As a result, he is said to cut more than 50 lbs in order to make weight for his fights. Despite bloating up to twice his fighting size, it must be noted that Paddy has always made weight for his fights. However, despite this, many fans and fighters feel that operating at such extremes will be detrimental to him in the long run.
Paddy Pimblett reveals the secret behind his diet
Naturally, fans are often left astounded at how big Paddy gets in the off-season. Following his fight against Tony Ferguson at UFC 296, the 29-year-old wasted no time in getting into the festivities and repeating his routine. With no fight news regarding him, it is expected that Pimblett will enjoy a prolonged vacation.
All things considered, Paddy’s extreme dietary habits do not seem to affect him in the least. Over the years, the Scouse fighter has managed to perfect the art of gaining and losing weight. For those wondering Paddy guzzles anywhere between 6000-8000 calories a day, when he is not fighting. At the same time, during camp, he follows a strict diet of 1500-1800 calories per day.
Along with his food consumption, Paddy also reduces his water consumption to just 1 liter ahead of weigh-ins. Additionally, his coaching staff also helps him implement other traditional weight-cutting methods to help him look great. By the end of the process, Pimblett cuts a rather shredded and impressive figure. However, as he has suggested in the past, the Englishman is not too flustered about having abs all year round.
Naturally, among the various side effects his dietary habits have, a lot of people have ‘fat-shamed’ the fighter in the past. Whilst he is a mentally resilient person, Pimblett has been heckled a fair few times. All things considered, Paddy seems comfortable in his ways and will likely continue doing so for the foreseeable future.
