NBA fans can’t help but be impressed with the confidence shown by Trae Young. As we all know, Young’s Atlanta Hawks are currently in the midst of a first-round matchup against Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics. Since Trae and the Hawks managed to secure the 7th seed after defeating the Miami Heat in the play-in tournament, they are now stacked up against the 2nd-seeded Boston Celtics.
Despite the fact that many NBA critics and analysts favored the Celtics to easily win this series, Trae still remains confident in his abilities. He even had a mature and open-minded response when asked about the heckling from Celtics fans throughout this series. Let us take a better look at what Young had to say on this issue.
Trae Young claims that NBA fans respect him despite ugly chants
The Atlanta Hawks star is no stranger to being hated and playing the role of a villain. In fact, he has even embraced it in the past postseasons after managing to defeat teams with enthusiastic fan bases like the New York Knicks.
Therefore, it wasn’t really a surprise to find out that he has grown accustomed to the feeling of being dissed and mocked by fans from the opposing team. He recently claimed that all the chants made him feel special at times. Especially since not every player across the league receives similar treatment.
“When people do that, I think it’s just total respect…They ain’t doing that to everybody.”

Perhaps Young is making a valid point. After all, a player would certainly have to be proficient if fans felt the need to attempt in rattling him via chants and trying to throw him off his game. However, it clearly didn’t work most recently on Trae when the Hawks went into Boston for Game 5 and ended up winning.
Despite the “F*ck Trae Young” and other similar chants, he scored a game-high 38 points, 13 assists, and 4 rebounds to carry his team to a narrow and impressive 117-119 win. Every point he scored was necessary considering that the Hawks were on the verge of elimination and down 3-1 heading into this series.
Trae has shown to love the negative attention that fans thrust upon him. He will certainly have another dose in a potential Game 7 if the Hawks manage to defend home court for Game 6 against the Celtics.
