Maycee Barber (12-2) beats Andrea Lee on the UFC San Antonio main card. Ahead of the bout against Andrea Lee (13-7), Maycee was on a 3-fight winning streak. She finally found some form and bounced back strongly after two disappointing defeats against Roxanne Modafferi and Alexa Grasso. She now extends her winning streak to 4-fights with the win over Lee.

However, it was not an easy one for Maycee. In her first few UFC fights, “The Future” bullied her opponents and ran through them. But that has not been the case for quite some time now. After her win against Miranda Maverick, fans lashed out and slammed the judges’ scorecards. So far, it has been the same for the Andrea Lee bout as fans cry foul after Maycee’s unanimous decision win.

The first two rounds of the bout were fairly close. But fans and the commentary team agreed that Maverick did enough to perhaps win both of those. However, Maycee had a better final round and ended the contest on a bright note. Ultimately, it is the judges’ opinions that matter and all three of them unanimously scored the bout for Barber 29-28, 29-28, and 30-27. So what are fans saying about the decision?
Here are some fan reactions on the matter

Starting to get really annoyed with these Barber gifts. Andrea was robbed. Total joke

Yeah. I think the judges put more in what she did with the takedowns instead of the control time. But Lee probably won the fight. It was close.

30-27. . . UFC hasn't changed one bit.

Robbed. Hellen Keller must be one of your judges. @MayceeBarber got dragged 😂

Maycee herself had no confidence that she won. What a shit show. UFC is becoming a popularity contest.

Let’s take look at the punching stats to see why the fans are upset.
Was Andrea Lee robbed against Maycee Barber at UFC San Antonio?
There have been some very close fights recently, where the fans expressed their unhappiness about the result. The bouts such as Islam Makhachev vs Alexander Volkanovski and Paddy Pimblett vs Jared Gordon come to mind. The reaction has been pretty much the same about the Maycee Barber vs Andrea Lee bout as well. Are the fans right to be disappointed about Barber winning? Let’s find out.
As per UFC stats, Barber landed 66 total strikes and 48 significant strikes. During the same time, Andrea landed 39 significant strikes and 57 strikes in total. In terms of significant strikes, the 24-year-old out-landed Lee in all rounds with 17, 17, and 14 strikes in the 3 rounds respectively. During the same rounds, Lee landed 12, 15, and 12 strikes respectively.

However, Lee secured 1 takedown each in round one and round two and 3 more in round three. Out of 15 minutes of fight time, Lee controlled 5 minutes and 20 seconds. In comparison, Barber only managed 2 takedowns and a control time of just 45 seconds. Although Lee had supremacy in grappling, the judges opted to score the bout for Maycee.
As fans saw in the UFC 286 main event between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman, the takedowns themselves are not enough to win the bout anymore without doing any damage. Hence, the verdicts seem fair from the judges and it is nowhere near a robbery. Let us know your thoughts on the bout in the comments down below.
