The Ja Morant gun controversy has been on everyone’s lips recently. For those who don’t know, the Memphis Grizzlies player flashed a gun on Instagram live. This came after the game against the Denver Nuggets which led people to believe that Ja had the weapon in Denver. It meant he carried the firearm on a team plane, risking a 50-game suspension from the NBA.

The police and NBA opened an investigation on the matter but later concluded that there was not enough evidence to charge Ja with any crime. This means Morant‘s return to the court is on the cards. Although he hasn’t been charged with a crime, the backlash he has received is truly astonishing, according to Kyrie Irving.
Kyrie Irving admits Ja Morant would not be the last athlete to be under heavy scrutiny
The NBA world is aware of the criticism Kyrie had to deal with a few months ago. He shared a movie on social media that contained anti-Semitic views. The Brooklyn Nets suspended Kyrie for a few games and the guard had to complete a list of things before returning. It indicates to a certain extent that Irving can relate to Ja.
Kyrie said during an Instagram live, “Y’all saw what’s going on. We don’t have to go into 12ski [Ja Morant]. We don’t have to go into that because 12ski’s not the only one that’s dealt with real life circumstances. He’s not the only one. He won’t be the only one.”

“So, guess what I’m going to do. I’m going to stand, and make sure I’m there for my family and my friends. We all make mistakes. We all do things that we’ll regret. But somehow when you’re a celebrity and you’re famous, you’re underneath different rules,” Kyrie added.
Nike terminated its contract with Kyrie during the controversy, and a whopping $11 million was lost in the process. This led fans to question the company’s decision to replace Kyrie with Ja, who has also landed himself in trouble now.
It certainly looks like Kyrie could be right to an extent. The number of celebrities being vocal about their unhappiness with how they are being portrayed in the media, and the double standards they face has increased. Whatever the case, Ja could soon return to the court without having to face any consequences, which will be just what Grizzlies fans would have wanted to hear.
