- Green, during his suspension, expressed gratitude towards Kevin Durant for comments made after the incident with Jusuf Nurkić.
Draymond Green was slapped with a 25-game suspension after he had a hand-to-hand with Jusuf Nurkić. The NBA has reinstated the star forward/center on January 6, 2024. However, this was his second suspension in the 2023–24 season, following a massive five-game suspension for choking Rudy Gobert back in November 2023. Green was missing in action for 12 games, facing the repercussions of his 25-game suspension.
The star forward had a long time to ponder his actions and their implications. All this was happening when the Golden State Warriors were getting reprimanded for their fading dynasty. In a recent episode on ‘The Draymond Green Show’ that floated on YouTube, Green spilled the tea. The Warriors’ big man revealed how ‘King James’ boosted his morale and said some sweet consoling words.

Green revealed, “Bron is checking in. Yo, just want you to know that we with you. We love you champ. We ride with you. Do whatever you gotta do. Know that we with you.” Green has been marred with suspensions and ejections many times in his career; however, this season has gotten him entangled in a spiral of tragic events.
Such repercussions in the first year of the four-year deal with the Warriors have pushed him on a back foot. However, such empowering words from a rival team might sound soothing to Green right now. As per ESPN, the big man is averaging 9.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 5.8 assists this season. In the same episode, Green let out a lot of emotions about the many incidents that happened. One of them was referring to what Kevin Durant said regarding his suspension.
Draymond Green thanked Kevin Durant for his comments
After Draymond hit Jusuf Nurkić on December 12, 2023, Durant was quick enough to comment on it in the media. Durant had said, “Yeah, that was insane to see. Glad Nurk is alright. I had never seen that before on a basketball court or in an NBA game. I hope Draymond gets the help he needs.” Reverting to the same comment, Green expressed his emotions.
Green didn’t mince his words when he said that Durant’s comments pissed him off. Green said, “I’ll tell you, it really pissed me off.” However, it wasn’t long before Green realized that the words were true. Green confessed how he clung to the statement and did some self-reflection when he was not playing. Acknowledging the comment where KD said, “I know Draymond, and that’s not—he hasn’t been that way when I was around him coming into the league,” Green supported the statement.
‘Dray Magic’ was upright in accepting that he has changed and is not the same as he used to be back in 2017. At that moment, Draymond decided not to comment so negatively and to just evolve and grow. With such a mindset, moving past this chain of bad events won’t be a tough task for the big man.
