Tiger Woods is one of the sporting royalties of this generation. The world has witnessed his greatness for more than two decades since his first professional tournament in 1992, at the Los Angeles Open. Although he didn’t become a prodigal talent right away, Tiger won the Masters just three years later, at the age of 21. He remains the youngest to win the Masters until now.
Tiger’s career isn’t any different that all the other sporting legends we have witnessed. He has reached a point where a retirement is now a possible option, considering his age, and the numerous injuries he has been through in his career. Although it would not be what fans would want to witness, it sure looks like the legend we all love has been experiencing some discomfort.

Recently, fans captured Tiger in pain, while playing at the Masters in Augusta, Georgia. This year’s tournament could be Tiger’s last, but that has been said often in the case of the golf legend. He was seen limping after making a 23rd consecutive cut at the Masters.
Tiger is now on-par with Gary Player and Fred Couples, for the most consecutive cuts in the tournament’s history. However, the unusual way of walking and the discomfort seen on his face raised questions for the world, as many wondered what could have gone wrong with Tiger.
What happened to Tiger Woods?
Although there hasn’t been any confirmation on his injury, his caddie, Joe LaCava, has mentioned very recently that the 5x Masters champion is in constant pain.
He said to the New York Post, “Obviously it affected him physically, but I think it got to him mentally because he’s grinding to block out the pain. I think that messes with you a little bit upstairs, and that’s the first time I saw him trying so hard to block it out mentally.”
For those who don’t know, Tiger was in a life-changing situation back in 2021. The American was driving the Genesis GV80 SUV just outside of LA at the time. This was when he lost control after speeding up to 82 mph in a 45 mph zone, according to the report from the Los Angeles County Sherriff Department.
The accident almost took Tiger’s life, but it also left him with a number of painful injuries to deal with for a long time. According to the statement from his family at the time, it looks like his right leg was massively damaged as well. In 2022, a huge scar on Tiger’s shin was revealed, although he tried his best to cover it by wearing leg sleeves.
The statement mentioned from his family mentioned the extent of the injury as well, “Mr Woods suffered significant orthopaedic injuries to his right lower extremity that were treated during emergency surgery.” Woods suffered multiple fractures that affected his upper and lower tibia and fibula bones. Along with this, Tiger’s other foot and ankle injuries were also treated with screws and pins at the time.

Tiger’s right leg is a point of pain for him, especially after that horrific car crash a couple of years ago. But Tiger Woods has proven that his endurance to pain is almost second to none, and has continued to play at the highest level until now. However, considering that he’s 47 years old right now, retirement and calling it might be a suitable option, especially after all that he’s won until now.
