NBA has been an everchanging league, and playing styles have often changed from generation to generation. In current times, 3-point shooting has been of crucial importance. Teams have adapted to a much faster approach in transition without wasting much time. Oftentimes, the team which establishes a commanding lead early in the game holds the upper hand and a high possibility of winning the game.
With the increasing pace of the game, new records are being set and one of them being the most point scored by a team in a quarter. However, this record is constantly changing hands with several teams looking to stamp their authority in the best way possible in the early stages of the game. Let’s take a look at the former team who held the record and who is now the new record holder.
The Golden State Warriors hold the record for most points scored in a quarter in the NBA
This NBA season has been one of the most entertaining seasons in a while. No team in the Western Conference below the 4th spot has had a stronghold on a playoff spot. The teams took it down to the line to book their tickets to the playoffs. However, with the last game of the regular season, the Golden State Warriors set a new NBA record for the most points scored in a quarter in the NBA. They eventually finished the game with, 157-101, further extending their lead and putting the game to bed against the Portland Trail Blazers.

The Warriors have been the best team when it comes to shooting beyond the arc. They have a trio of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Jordan Poole who are the league’s most fearsome three-point trio. Last night against Portland, all of them were firing on all cylinders and showcasing their shooting capabilities. The Warriors ended up scoring 12 3-pointers in the first quarter, this helped them set a new record of scoring 55 points in the first quarter.
The Warriors ended the quarter with a commanding lead of 55-27 against the Blazers. The previous record was set by the Memphis Grizzlies, 51 points, 4 months earlier. Klay Thompson ended the regular season with 300 3-pointers in a single season. The Warriors will be hoping to continue this same form into the postseason as they look to defend their crown.
