Raymond Griner, father of the 32-year-old WNBA star, Brittney Griner is a Deputy Sheriff of Harris County. He was a former Marine veteran who served in the NAM(Non-Aligned Movement) in 1968 and 1969.
Raymond has been quite supportive of Griner’s career in basketball. He taught her self-defense at the time when she was the only female playing among boys during her schooling years. Apart from self-defense he also taught her how to fix a car. Griner was at a small age when her father taught these.
With the news of Griner’s return from Russia, her father in an interview with FOX Sports mentioned, “All my stress has gone down. I feel like I got a 500-pound brick off of my back. Glad talk to her because I haven’t talked to her but twice since she’s been gone.”
The father of the 32-year-old has also given a vote of thanks to the US President on her daughter’s return.
Who are Brittney Griner’s parents Raymond Griner and Sandra Griner?
Brittney Griner is the daughter of Raymond Griner and Sandra Griner. Her father is a veteran of the Vietnam War and her mother is a homemaker who is Latin American. During her senior year when Griner opened up about her gender, it was not greatly appreciated especially by her father. Her mother approved of her decision but her father did not take the news quite well. Due to such issues, she had to move out.
It was only with time that her father adjusted to her opening up as a Lesbian. Over the years, Griner has faced severe backlash and “hate” from fans who have questioned her sexuality and made comments about her voice. Griner is not the only child of Raymond and Sandra Griner. She has three elder siblings, his brother Decarlo Griner, and two sisters Shekera and Pier Griner.
Thus, with the recent events of Griner’s arrest, his elder sister Shekera posted on Twitter.

The WNBA player has always been quite secretive about her family. Not much information is available on any member of the family apart from Brittney and the WNBA star has also decided to choose a social media life that isn’t all fancy and out there.
Griner is now married to Cherelle Griner and has two kids Ava and Solei with her ex-wife Glory Johnson. Needless to say, Griner likes to lead a life without the glitz and famous of the media.
