All you need to know about World Championship Wrestling
Previously, in 1988, Ted Turner founded the pro wrestling promotion named World Championship Wrestling (WCW). With that, WCW began gaining popularity among fans. Soon, it became one of the two top pro wrestling promotions. The other one is WWF/WWE.
Not to mention, WCW once surpassed WWF/WWE in popularity. Thereafter, Eric Bischoff became a part of the company and worked as the executive producer of the promotion. It is worth mentioning that, while Bischoff was in charge, the company experienced extreme success. The storylines became more reality-based, and the company also hired many well-known former WWF/WWE stars.
However, in 1999, owing to creative issues, WCW suffered a huge loss in ratings and revenue. Also, many reported that the downfall of WCW happened because of backstage politics and poor management techniques. Thereafter, the promotion was shut down, and its valuable assets were sold to WWF/WWE in 2001.
That marked the end of World Championship Wrestling. However, now that a docuseries being made on the downfall of the company, several other important backstage details might come into the spotlight. Whatever the case, fans will definitely look forward to the premiere of the series to know the truth behind the rise and fall of the iconic promotion.
