Legal troubles just can not stop chasing Gervonta Davis. During a recent court hearing, Davis pleaded guilty to four counts from a case that was pending since November 2020. He got into a vehicular accident at the time where he was accused of hit and run. It looks like Davis has decided to accept the potential sentencing as he opted to skip his opportunity to take the case to trial.
So what really happened that day? On Nov 5, 2020, The Tank decided to drive in his luxury vehicle from a club. It was late at night and the boxer ignored the signal and decided to drive at a high speed. However, that decision proved to be a horrible one for him as he ran into another vehicle. The incident injured four people and among the injured people, was Jyair Smith.
As per a report from ESPN, Davis apparently was aware of Smith’s presence. But he ignored everything and decided to get away from the scene. While there could have been a resolution to the case in 2022, a Circuit Court judge in Baltimore reportedly denied Davis the opportunity to get a plea deal. Davis’ sentencing will reportedly take place on May 5th later this year.

Fans may want to what are the counts that Gervonta Davis pleaded to. The first count was fleeing the scene of the accident where bodily harm was injured. He also pleaded guilty to the counts of running a red light and driving with a revoked driving license. Davis also pleaded to not notifying property damage. Judge Althea M. Handy also let Davis know that there is no agreement for any particular punishment on the day of the sentencing.
While he is awaiting sentencing on this particular case, Gervonta Davis is also facing another court date. As fans know, he was arrested in December 2022 for allegedly hitting his partner. For that, Davis is set to appear in front of a court for that later in February. However, unlike this case, Davis did not plead guilty in that case. With a boxing match against Ryan Garcia set to take place in April, his legal troubles surely muddy the excitement.
