“The Texas Rattlesnake” Stone Cold Steve Austin is almost certain to return to the ring for WrestleMania 39. In an incredible feud with Kevin Owens, the 57-year-old made his return to wrestling for WrestleMania 38. It left the WWE Universe wanting more, and Austin, no doubt, wanted more as well.
The arena went ballistic when Austin made his way down to the ring last year. Fans feel Stone Cold can continue making more annual Mania appearances every year for the coming years after seeing him return to the squared circle in 2022. According to recent reports, the WWE may be considering the same thing.
The rumors began last year when the WWE Hall of Famer tweeted a video of himself in great shape amid talk of another possible return to the ring. Despite the fact that no new information has come since then, Dave Meltzer believes Austin is “probably the most likely of the three” to return at WrestleMania 39.
Meltzer is referring to the trio of Stone Cold, The Rock, and John Cena, who have been rumored to return for WrestleMania 39 for quite some time.
WWE approached Austin about another ‘Mania match, as reported by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. And he really responded to the rumors, fueling the fire. If Cena, Rock, and Steve Austin are all available in some way, Wrestlemania 39 might become one of the greatest of all time. It appears that WWE is doing its best to incorporate them in some form.
Who will face Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania 39?
Stone Cold Steve Austin is reported to be returning to the ring at Wrestlemania 39, and WWE is already making plans for him. Despite the lack of confirmation, there are a few names who could face The Texas Rattlesnake.
The current US champion, Austin Theory, has been extensively rumored to be one of the contenders to face Austin. However, it may not be an exciting match-up for the fans as they may not feel the same thrill to watch the two Austins square off.
Finn Balor was expected to get a major push after Triple H became the head of creative since he has been his favorite since his NXT days. A match with one of WWE’s GOATs will boost Finn’s popularity. Finn is a terrific in-ring performer and is regarded as one of the safest workers in the current WWE, thus he can carry Steve Austin to an incredible match.
Seth “Freakin” Rollins is another name under consideration. Seth can work with practically anyone in the ring. He’s a fantastic heel with the potential to confront a legend like Austin. Seth is a prominent heel on Monday Night RAW, so having him face Austin as a face makes sense.
Although Austin’s appearance is speculative and not final, WWE should place him in a match with someone who is safe and can carry Austin throughout the match.
