CM Punk is one of the biggest superstars in the history of WWE and his return at the Survivor Series 2023 made fans go crazy. Since his return to the Stamford-based promotion after 10 long years, Punk has been one of the most talked about superstars.
While fans were speculating if he would win the Royal Rumble 2024 and headline the WrestleMania. However, everyone was proved wrong when Cody Rhodes won the Rumble. But the defeat was not enough for Punk as more misery came his way. The 45-year-old superstar reportedly suffered a significant injury. It is believed that he has torn triceps and this could spoil his WrestleMania 40 plans.

It was during the match that some super attentive fans also noticed him getting injured. This was when he landed awkwardly on his right elbow when Drew McIntyre gave him a future shot DDT. Later Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter confirmed that Punk had suffered an injury during the Royal Rumble.
Dave Meltzer wrote, “His exact injury was unconfirmed by those in WWE past many confirming the injury and that as of right now the plan is to have him on the show from Tampa to address the nature of the injury.” Dave said that nobody was close enough to the situation to say anything for certain.
He further added, “There was a spot in the Rumble where the referee checked on Punk and he told the ref “My triceps,” which led to the speculations about the torn triceps. The exact nature of the injury was not known until CM Punk himself cleared the air on the January 29, 2024 episode of Monday Night RAW.
However, on the latest episode of RAW, Punk revealed that he had sustained an injury to his right tricep. And that his dream of main-eventing WrestleMania would be delayed yet again this year. He told WWE Universe not to feel sorry for him, and his wound would not stop him from making a comeback.

Punk was really determined to headline the grandest pay-per-view of WWE since his return. Reportedly, in a Royal Rumble 2024 vlog posted by the Stamford-based promotion, he has clearly addressed how he felt about headlining WrestleMania.
He said, “It has always been the goal” and further explained how he watched great wrestling heroes like Bret Hart achieving the feat multiple times. He said that he just wanted to accomplish what the wrestling greats have accomplished.
Fans believed that WWE had plans for CM Punk at WrestleMania 40 where he could face Seth Rollins. But after his recent injury, things are not very clear right now. It will be interesting to see how things will proceed for the ‘Best in the World’.
