In a rather bizarre incident, we now have Cincinnati Bengals star, Joe Mixon reportedly involved in a shooting. As per news reports, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputies entered the running back’s home in response to a shooting.
On early Tuesday morning March 7, authorities were informed of gunshots fired at Anderson Township in Ohio. Upon the arrival of the law enforcement officers, a juvenile was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. Moreover, the area sectioned off included Bengals star, Mixon’s house as well.

As per the video evidence, officers were seen banging on Mixon’s door, demanding the homeowner come out of the property. Further, officers were seen entering the premises around 1:30 A.M. Soon after, at around 2 A.M., deputies carrying note-making supplies were seen heading inside. During this time, crime scene tape and an evidence marker could be seen outside Mixon’s home.
Finally, the officers took down the crime scene tape at 3:20 A.M. before leaving the premises, without making an arrest. Currently, details regarding the situation have been withheld. However, as per the NFL player’s sister, Shelonda Mixon’s statement to WLWT news, Joe was not involved in the shooting.
Is Joe Mixon arrested in the shooting case?
Although he has likely not been arrested, it is not the first time that Mixon has had some involvement with the law. As such, early last month, an arrest warrant was issued for the Bengals star after he allegedly threatened a woman with a gun in downtown Cincinnati.
According to a source, the police warrant stated that Mixon pointed a gun at a woman on January 21. From the transcripts obtained, Joe allegedly said to the woman, “You should be popped in the face, I should shoot you, the police can’t get me”.
Surprisingly, the charges against Mixon were later dismissed by a county judge, with the warrant for his arrest recalled as well. For the most part, it is unknown whether the two events are linked in any way.
Hailing from California, Mixon, 26, was drafted out of the University of Oklahoma by the Bengals in 2017. Currently, he is in the third year of his $48 million, four-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals. Additionally, he has become a vital part of the Bengals squad, racking up 814 yards last season. However, in order to continue his good form, Mixon needs to stay away from controversy and stay on the right side of the law.
With NBA star Ja Morant suspended for attacking a 17-year-old boy and flashing a gun on Instagram, Mixon would do well to keep his name clear of any similar activities. With further details still pending, do you believe Joe Mixon was not involved in the incident? What did you make of his prior arrest warrant? Leave your thoughts in the comments below.
