Xavier Worthy proved his worth before the 2024 NFL draft next month. The wide receiver broke John Ross’ former Bengals wide receiver record by taking just 4.21 seconds in the 40-yard dash. Upon such a mind-blowing performance, Worthy said, “I definitely knew I had a chance. I didn’t know it was gonna happen in reality. I came in knowing I was gonna run nothing slower than 4.25.”
Worthy said he was confident about breaking the record as he ran in 4.25 seconds for the first time. The 20-year-old also informed USA Today Sports that he got congratulations from some of the big names in the nation, such as Ray Lewis and DeSean Jackson, including Patrick Mahomes. Mahomes’ message was no less than a dream come true for the young man. Moreover, he has shared his excitement about playing for the Kansas City Chiefs.

Worthy stated, “In a perfect world, I definitely would want to go to the Chiefs. Just the way Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs improvise and use you. They had Tyreek Hill. The way they used him, I feel like that would be a perfect fit for me.”
The wide receiver was also compared with the fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt. When Worthy was asked about competing with the 37-year-old, he replied, “No, his 40 was in shoes and sweats. There’s no comparison. I’m not even going to disrespect him.” Therefore, even before joining the NFL, Worthy had already started being compared with renowned sports personalities.

From 2021 to 2023, Xavier Worthy appeared in 39 games with the Texas Longhorns. Worthy made 197 receives, covered 2,755 yards, and scored 26 touchdowns. The 20-year-old was selected for the All-American Bowl in 2021.
Worthy was also rewarded with the Big 12 Offensive Freshman of the Year award. He appeared on the First-team All-Big 12 twice and the Second-team All-Big 12 once.
