Tom Brady is perhaps the most beloved NFL player of all time. He holds numerous amounts of Superbowl records. He won six Superbowls with New England Patriots and one with Tampa Bay Buccaneers. But even the most revered of personalities can make controversial comments. Something similar happened with Brady, as he had to apologise for his statements.
Brady has a podcast on SiriusXM, called “Let’s Go! With Tom Brady, Larry Fitzgerald and Jim Gray.” During an episode, Brady said the feeling at the start of a football season is similar to that of deployment. However, comparing an NFL season to military service was not the aptest one. Even Brady himself realised it. In a recent episode of his podcast, Brady apologized to the fans.
“Earlier this week I made a statement about playing football and the military. It was a very poor choice of words… I just want to express that to any sentiments out there that people may have taken in a certain way, so I apologize.” (h/t via MLive)
Tom Brady is not having a great time on the field. He broke retirement to play for the Buccaneers this season. They had a terrific start to their season with two wins in two games. But in the following 6 games, the Todd Bowles-led team suffered 5 defeats and won only one game. So it is safe to say that the season is not going how Brady thought it would.
Brady is also going through some personal turmoil as he recently finalized his divorce from Gisele Bündchen.
Tom Brady faces criticism for comparing NFL season to military deployment
Tom Brady’s words have created a raucous online. He is facing a major blowback for hurting public sentiments. Football is a sport which serves as entertainment for millions of people. On the other hand, military personnel are responsible for the security of an entire nation. So the comparison was in poor taste and it was evident from the reactions on Twitter.
Here are some reactions on the matter
Tom Brady says he looks at the football season like he is on the military and going away on deployment. Really Tom? You never served a day, so staying in a five star hotel, eating anything you want and talking to family every day is not the same, you clown.

Oh Tom Brady… go fuck yourself. Being a football quarterback is not even close to military deployment. I couldn’t see my children at all for a year (*except for the 2 week R&R at the halfway point). They couldn’t fly out to watch me do my job whenever they wanted. 1/?

We both wear a uniform, and our marriages/relationships can be strained, but the similarities end there.
He plays a game to entertain people. We risk our lives to defend this country.
Thankfully, the 45-year-old came to his senses and issued an apology. During his apology, Brady said that he had a great deal of respect for the people who served in the military. Hopefully, it will earn him some goodwill with the fans who were enraged by the statement. On 11th November 2019, Tom posted a picture with Army members to honour them on Veterans Day.

Hence, it is clear that he has immense admiration for everyone in uniform. Perhaps in a moment of unmindfulness, he made the controversial comments. It will be interesting to see if the backlash goes away with his latest apology or not.
