The Chicago Bears have been going through a rough time for the past few years. The team’s last playoff appearance was 3 years ago in 2020. However, the team hasn’t won any playoffs in the last 13 years. Even this season, the team’s campaign is not going as per their expectations with two losses in two games. Now, the team is in more trouble with the news of the FBI’s raid at Bears’ Defensive Coordinator Alan Williams’ House.
Recently, the Bears had a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers which they lost by 17-27. Alan Williams was not with the team during the match reportedly due to some personal reasons. The team’s Head coach Matt Eberflus served as the team’s DC as well during the game.

After the defensive coordinator’s absence, Sports Talk Chicago’s Jon Zaghoul made a shocking revelation about Williams. Zaghoul shared on X that the FBI raided the house of Alan Williams. They also reportedly raided the team’s headquarters in Halas Hall “in connection with an undisclosed incident”. According to Zaghoul, the raid happened after the Bears lost by 38-20 against the Green Bay Packers.
However, Williams’ personal attorney Andrew M. Strong referred to the raid rumors as “offensive and one hundred percent untrue”. “I just want to set the record straight that Coach Williams has some health challenges and some family issues he’s dealing with…,” he said.
Moreover, a source from the Lake Forest Police mentioned that there has been no raid at the Halas Hall. Some renowned Bears reporters have also denied the rumors of any raid related to Alan Williams. So, it seems like all these rumors were nothing but fake about the NFL coordinator.
Alan Williams resigned from his post due to personal reasons
The sudden resignation of Alan Williams surely fueled the rumors of a raid at his house. However, as per reports, the former defensive coordinator has resigned due to some personal circumstances. ESPN reported that Williams reportedly had to look after his “health and family”.
“I am taking a step back to take care of my health and family. I appreciate the opportunity to work with the Chicago Bears, a storied NFL franchise with a rich history,” he said.
In a statement, Williams expressed his gratitude for the team, HC Matt Eberflus, and GM Ryan Poles. However, it seems like the veteran coordinator isn’t fine forever. He reportedly made it clear that he plans to “come back and coach again” once he feels good.
“I value the NFL shield and all that it stands for and after taking some time to address my health, I plan to come back and coach again,” he said.
Alan Williams has been serving in the NFL as a coach and coordinator for a long time now. He has been the defensive backs coach for the Indianapolis Colts and the Detroit Lions. As for being a defensive coordinator, he has served the Minnesota Vikings as well in 2012. However, for now, he probably needs time to focus on his personal matters. The Bears must be waiting for him to come back soon and take on his responsibilities.
